Rotation Of Thought

Hmmmmm….

The Earth’s orbital behaviors are responsible for more than just presenting us with a leap year every four years. According to Michael E. Wysession, Ph.D., associate professor of earth and planetary sciences in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, parameters such as planetary gravitational attractions, the Earth’s elliptical orbit around the sun and the degree of tilt of our planet’s axis with respect to its path around the sun, have implications for climate change and the advent of ice ages.

Now I’m just waiting for someone to scream “is it peer reviewed???????!!!!!!!!!!!!”

It sure is peer-reviewed. In fact the IPCC covers this very well in its FAQ section – particularly FAQ 6.1: What caused the ice ages and other important climate changes before the industrial era?

  2. I know, I’ve read it. But, of course, it could have nothing to do with today’s climate shifts, right?

Teach the climate is changing very rapidly. And of course there are many reasons that are combining to change our climate.
Some people refuse to believe that man is having any impact on climate.
If your solution to climate change is altering the earth’s orbit or adjusting the tilt of the planet’s axis please tell us more about it. My initial reaction is disbelief.

If you’ve read it then you should know the answer to that question.

The Earth’s orbit around the Sun can be calculated with astronomical precision. The next Ice Age is due to begin in about 30,000 years. Yes we are between Ice Ages but it takes tens of thousands of years to change the amount of solar radiation reaching the Earth. It cannot account for the current rate in the warming trend.

Pilot to Navigator… What was that turbulence all about on the top of the Death Star II? Darth, that was that looney ‘Ryans Express’ again speeding to Uranus via the Black Hole… It must be the left-wing moonbats ‘r us mating season?
