Daily Kosbat Diarist-War Is a Competition

and…..(all from one paragraph)

War is viewed as a competition and, as theorized, Americans do not like to lose.

Well, duh. Americans do not like to lose. I am not including the Left as Americans, of course.

When it appears that the U.S. is losing a war (or not winning it quickly or impressively enough) it is the choice of many Americans to take their ball and go home.  What the anti-war community needs to do is convince the majority of Americans that simply being forced to engage in a war—any war—is a defeat.

Like we were initially losing WWI, WWII, Korea, War of 1812, Union was lose the Civil War, and, oh, let’s not forget the War for Independence. Apparently, we should have taken our ball and gone home. We’d still be part of the English empire by Progressive standards. Just fighting for independence was apparently a defeat. Liberal World.

One need not count bodies or measure areas of land occupied by troops to determine “victory”.  The fact that the U.S. is forced to expend lives and treasure in violent conflict with others should be viewed as a failure—a failure of American ideology or policy or diplomacy or execution.

Yup, the War of Independence was a failure. Let’s go and rejoin England as a colony (ps: I’m not bashing England, a great country, just pointing out)

If the U.S. were really doing everything the right way, we would not need to engage in military action against others—at least we would not be the ones initiating that action.  Acts of violence are more likely to cause problems than to solve them, in addition to being far more costly than any other means of resolving a problem.

Do I need to go to the War for Indendence example again? We’ll take it as written.

Let’s all just gather around and sing Kumbaya, and that will suddenly make all the bad people in the world, such as the Islamics who would be happy to slit the throats of even the very Democrats who provide them with such great aid and comfort – not to mention talking points for their bash America video’s.

I would rather die standing than live on my knees. Or as Ben Franklin said: “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”

I love your dumpster diving posts. They are just so good at making your points for you through the unbelievably naive and silly things they write.

Its makes me wonder how they would respond if someone breaks into their house in the middle of the night. Would they try to ‘relate’ the the thief/murderer? Would they think less of themselves if they got violent to prevent the invader from harming one of their children? Would they feel that they caused the invasion because they had too nice a house?

It just makes me wonder ….
