Global Warming Today: Ca. Fires Confirmed As Climate Change

OK, then

Catastrophic fires sweeping Southern California are consistent with climate change models, according to an Oregon State University expert, and may be a prelude to many more blazes in the future as vegetation grows heavier than usual and then ignites during prolonged periods of drought.

“This is exactly what we’ve been projecting to happen, both in short-term fire forecasts for this year and the longer term patterns that can be linked to global climate change,” said Ronald Neilson, an OSU professor and bioclimatologist with the USDA Forest Service.

Yes, because this has never happened before, so it must be man made global warming. Whenever you see the phrase “climate change,” it refers to man as being the cause. Apparently, there have never been wild fires in California before, certainly not prior to Jan 20, 2001.

I’ve said before and I’ll say again, the climate is changing. Why? Because it always has, and always will, at least until the time when the Sun has used up all its normal hydrogen fuel, begin burning helium, turn into a Red Giants, and burn away the Earth.

There have been warm, cool, cold, and hot periods in the past. I do not remember SUVs being around.

Volcano’s blow off. Mountains rise and fall. Plate boundries change. The Sun does its thing. Glaciers come and go. Things change.

Did you know the Moon is receding around 4cm per year? Did you know that the North American plate is moving away from the European plate by around 1 inch per year? All these can effect climate. The Earth’s rotation will slow, the tides will become less intense, and the Atlantic gets bigger. Nature in play.

Did you know that as little as 3 million years ago, the Isthmus of Panama was under water? Due to plate tectonics, it closed up, changing the ocean circulatory patterns of the planet. Amazing, eh? Science in motion. Too bad the global warming as caused by Man adherents rely more on hysteria and feelings, instead of science. Yet they all fail to live the life they want everyone else to live. It always seems to be to “inconvenient” for them.

Meanwhile, all those believers are going to drop tons and tons of CO2, the gas that the climahysterics say is the main culprit, especially from SUVs owned by neocons, plan to travel to the resort island of Bali to spend a few hours discussing how everyone else should change, then spend some quality time relaxing on the tax payers dime. What, they couldn’t teleconfrence?

Now, if only the extreme environmentalists would allow us to clear the dead brush and have controlled burns, we wouldn’t get these massive fires in an area known for fires. Furthermore, when you live in an area that is prone to catastrophes, you are asking for trouble.

The extreme inviro’s aren’t totally at fault. They are a tool used by the democrats who fight every tool that can be used to fight forest fires and the same fools appoint the brain dead judges that side with the enviro whacko’s that are financed by the democrats. All in all it’s the democrats that burned Calif.

Teach, all of the natural factors you mentioned have been considered, measured and factored into the current understanding of climate change. The IPCC’s Fourth Assessment Report has the most recent information and Working Group I provides an extensive report on the physical science basis of climate change. Even if you don’t agree with the conclusions you can at least see what studies they used to arrive at their conclusions. Can you provide any scientific studies (not just your opinion) that would lead to a different conclusion?

  3. Why should I, when you haven’t? The IPCC is a beauracratic document. And, I will repeat 2 often stated things:

    1. why is this slight warming trend any different from billions of years of history?

    2. Why do those, including yourself, who believe it is all Man’s fault fail to live the life?

  4. Silke says:

    1. While it is true that the IPCC’s summaries of its reports are agreed between scientists and representatives of governments, the evidence for the reports is supplied by scientists. The latest assessment contained a vast amount of scientific observations which have been undertaken in recent years. Twenty-nine thousand real-world observations were included in the analysis.

Here is what the analysis tells us:
The Fourth Assessment Report describes warming and cooling effects on the planet in terms of radiative forcing — the rate at which energy is being added to the system, measured as power per unit area (in SI units, W/m²). The report shows in detail the individual warming contributions of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, halocarbons, other human warming factors, and the warming effects of changes in solar activity. Also shown are the cooling effects of aerosols, land-use changes, and other human activities. All values are shown as a change from pre-industrial conditions.
Total radiative forcing from the sum of all human activities is a warming force of about 1.6 watts/m2
Radiative forcing from an increase of solar intensity since 1750 is about 0.12 watts/m2
Radiative forcing from carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide combined is very likely (>90%) increasing more quickly during the current era (1750-present) than at any other time in the last 10,000 years.

    2. As I’ve explained before I do live the life as best I can. I am not asking others to do more than I do. What else should I be doing that I am not? Please tell me.

Sorry about the double post. For some reason I thought my original response got lost.
