It’s an early white October in the Sierra as snow continues to fall today at low levels for this time of year.
The National Weather Service has issued a snow advisory through 4 p.m. this afternoon for the west slopes of the Sierra Nevada.
This early season cold storm is expected to bring up to four inches of snow above the 500-foot level. Cold temperatures mean that snow levels will be low for this time of year, possibly down to 3,400 feet.

More snow is expected today on Stevens Pass after an unusually early storm dropped as much as 5 inches on parts of the west slopes of the North Cascades, according to the National Weather Service.
Central Oregon’s early taste of winter weather brought some snow to areas south of Bend early Thursday and a chance over a wider area, with a snow advisory posted for several more inches in the Cascades.
If last weekend was any indication, Mother Nature is bringing the white stuff in a major way. Whistler Blackcomb (WB) received up to 30 centimetres of snow in the alpine and the snow line made its way to the valley.
“The (Olde Farmers) Almanac is calling for a winter with two faces with cold weather in the East and normal winter temperatures in the West. There are also some good storms predicted,†Duncan said.

You’re not alone; Bjorn Lomborg has gotten all kinds of flak too, for–get this–saying that global warming is real, but that it’s a problem, rather than a catastrophe. You don’t just have to agree with the global warming litany; apparently, you also have to match their hysteria with your own. Otherwise, you’re just not being, you know, “realistic”
