3 Marines Recieve Punishment For Haditha

Such is justice for officers

A major general and two senior officers have been disciplined for their roles in investigating the deaths of 24 Iraqi civilians in the town of Haditha in 2005, the Marine Corps said Wednesday.

Maj. Gen. Richard A. Huck, former commanding general of the 2nd Marine Division, has received a letter of censure from the secretary of the Navy for the "actions he took and failed to take" in response to the killings.

Col. Stephen W. Davis and Col. Robert G. Sokoloski also received letters of censure.

Davis was cited for failure to take action when informed of the slayings. Sokoloski was cited for unsatisfactory performance of his duties.

In all, four enlisted Marines were charged with murder and four officers were charged with dereliction of duty for failing to investigate the deaths. Charges have so far been dropped against three of the men.

Notice that the three officers were popped for "dereliction," not, as the Left hopes against hope, going on a murderous rampage of unbridled mayhem and carnage. But, hey, the DU can always hope.

… how many letters of censure were given out on Wake Island, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Iwo Jima and Okinawa during WW II Blackbeard? Oh that’s right, the greatest generation ROUTINELY used hand grenades AND flame throwers… for VICTORY from 1942-1945! Imagine that WT? – PROUD USAF Gulf War DAV & son of a WW II and Korean War 2nd MAR DIV Leatherneck!!

Sadly, these guys are probably just fall guys. As the military judge said last week, it just wouldn’t look right to not prosecute someone for something in this.

    🙁

  3. Quite possibly. From what I have read, this will probably end their careers.
