Pelosi Taps Reyes: More Public Oversight

Following on the heels of Nancy Pelosi's 0-2 preseason start as the coach of the San Francisco Democrats, todays game ended in a 0-0 tie, with her picking Silvestre Reyes as her permanent National Intelligence goalie

"When tough questions are required _ whether they relate to intelligence shortcomings before the 9/11 attacks or the war in Iraq, or to the quality of intelligence on Iran or North Korea _ he does not hesitate to ask them," Pelosi, D-Calif., said in a statement announcing her choice of Reyes.

Some analysts have specualted that Reyes, like Pelosi, tends to dwell too much on past games, without preparing for future contests, always a cause for concern in the Federal League.

Under Democratic control, his committee is expected to increase public oversight of some of the most difficult issues facing the United States, including terrorism, Iraq and government surveillance. Given the committee's inherently secret nature, much of the work will have to be done behind closed doors.

There is a concern that Reyes will not keep the business of the team and of the Federal League behind closed doors. The SF Democrats have already shown a penchant for leaks in the recent past, which have harmed the security of the League.

In the interview, Reyes said that relations among committee members "can't get worse. It has gotten as bad as it could."

Reliable sources on the other teams have stated that, with the Democrats inability to keep secret what should be kept secret, it could get much worse.
