Dems Break 9/11 Commission Promises

Not even officially in charge of Congress, and we get this story (h/t GOP Bloggers)

It was a solemn pledge, repeated by Democratic leaders and candidates over and over: If elected to the majority in Congress, Democrats would implement all of the recommendations of the bipartisan commission that examined the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

But with control of Congress now secured, Democratic leaders have decided for now against implementing the one measure that would affect them most directly: a wholesale reorganization of Congress to improve oversight and funding of the nation's intelligence agencies. Instead, Democratic leaders may create a panel to look at the issue and produce recommendations, according to congressional aides and lawmakers.

"Of all our recommendations, strengthening congressional oversight may be among the most difficult and important," the panel wrote. "So long as oversight is governed by current congressional rules and resolutions, we believe the American people will not get the security they want and need."

This is just the tip of the iceburg. Democrats have been soft on national security since the late 60's, and have gotten weaker and weaker as time went on.

Personally, I do not expect them to implement any of the 9/11 Panel recommendations, neither in the first 100 days, nor the next two years. They would get in the way of all the hearings the Dems will hold, plus trying to pass San Francisco liberal legislation.

More: Apparently, the AP missed the story

Incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has told fellow Democrats she wants to pass the party's top six top legislative items and toughen ethics rules before President Bush delivers his State of the Union address. (snip)

Democrats also intend to repeal an unspecified series of energy company tax breaks; implement the recommendations of the commission that investigated the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 and reduce the cost of student loans.

Woops! Guess not!

Also:

The leadership has arranged for two seminars for the new lawmakers, many of whom have little grounding in the issues they will have to confront beginning early next year.

So, what you have here is 1. Democrats who have not a clue in the world what the job actually entails, and 2. Dem leadership indoctrinating them into the Cult of Liberalism.

  1. The New Iraqi Army…

People wonder why the Iraqi army hasn’t taken all of the fight on need to remember a few little things. First we are building an army from nothing, no leadership, and very little equipment, along with tanks and armored personnel carriers or APC’s….

Actually there are only a few of the recommendations that haven’t been implemented. The dimmi’s just used those to snow job the weak minded to get a few votes, and now they find they can’t implement them either. Dimmi’s will never notice the lies they have been told. Too stupid themselves.

  4. If only we could tax everyone at a 75% rate, we would be able to protect all the ports, airlines, and train stations. Of course, then we wouldn’t be able to go anywhere, so it wouldn’t matter 😉
