Duke Lacrosse: Two Arrests Made

Very early this AM, two players were arrested (via the Raleigh N&O)

Duke University lacrosse players Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty were charged today with first degree forcible rape, first degree sexual offense and kidnapping in connection with a reported rape at a Duke University lacrosse party, according to George Naylor, director of the jail.

Bond was set for each player at $400,000, Naylor said.

The two men emerged from a sheriff’s deputy vehicle and were led, handcuffed, into the magistrates office at 4:54 a.m. today.

OK, we have two. The allegations made said there was three. Will there be a third indictment made at some point, or is Mike Nifong just looking to score political points for his reelection? Does he actually have a case?

The other “exotic dancer” claims that she did not witness a rape and does not know whether one occurred. The defense claims that will help them. We will see.

But, poor District Attorney Mike Nifong:

“I no longer get to go anywhere in my community without people knowing who I am,” said Nifong, who faces two challengers in a primary election May 2.

Awww, too bad. Shouldn’t people know who the hell you are when you are running for public office?
