More Global Warming Bull Shat

I had planned to lead off with a different article, but this one caught my eye:

President Bush has long been out of step with the leaders of developed nations on global warming. He was virtually alone in refusing to support the Kyoto Protocol and to endorse mandatory reductions of emissions of greenhouse gases, which contribute to the earth’s rising temperatures.

The rest of the article is completely worthless after that opening paragraph. It is blatent lie, one often repeated by the American Left and the bash America European’s. Previously, I had this article on the Kyoto Protocol, and what the lies were. It included this:

The United States, although a signatory to the protocol, has neither ratified nor withdrawn from the protocol. The protocol is non-binding over the United States until ratified.

On July 25, 1997, before the Kyoto Protocol was to be negotiated, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed by a 95–0 vote the Byrd-Hagel Resolution (S. Res. 98), which stated the sense of the Senate was that the United States should not be a signatory to any protocol that did not include binding targets and timetables for developing as well as industrialized nations or “would result in serious harm to the economy of the United States”. On November 12, 1998, Vice President Al Gore symbolically signed the protocol. Aware of the Senate’s view of the protocol, the Clinton Administration never submitted the protocol for ratification.

Who was President in 1997? Hint: it was not George W. Bush.

Meanwhile, there is more global warming hysteria in this article (not that it is unique)

A man stands on a railroad track as a train rumbles closer.

“Global warming?” he says. “Some say irreversible consequences are 30 years away. Thirty years. That won’t affect me.”

He steps off the tracks — just in time. But behind him is a little blonde girl left in front of the roaring train.

The screen goes black. A message appears: “There’s still time.”

It’s just an ad, part of a campaign from the advocacy group Environmental Defense, which hopes to convince Americans they can do something about global warming, that there’s still time.

And we are going to do what, exactly? Oh, yes, I forgot, stop driving. Will the Gulfstream and Limousine Liberals give up their poor environmental habits? Hasn’t happened so far. I guess GWB has to “do something.”

But many scientists are not so sure that the oncoming train of global warming can be avoided. Temperatures are going to rise for decades because the chief gas that causes global warming lingers in the atmosphere for about a century.

“We certainly aren’t going to stop that 18-wheeler that’s rolling down the hill. In the short term, I’m not sure that anyone can stop it,” said John Walsh, director of the Center for Global Change and Arctic System Research at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks.

Mr. Walsh is right. We cannot do a damn thing about the Sun being hotter, nor the natural rythm of the Earth.

Should we be more environmental responsible? Yes. I have said it before, and I will say it again. Better environmental motor vehicles. Stop clear cutting. Reduce pollution, especially ocean pollution. But, to think that Man’s miniscule efforts to pollute can change what Mother Nature can do is the hight of hilarity. And immodest.

Read the rest of the article for the rest of the hysteria.
