Dems Want Port Security (?)

How many times have Defeatocrats thrown that little “we are only searching 10% of the inbound cargo” TP around? Lots, right? Heck, we had Harry Reid write a letter to Bill Frist on February 23, 2006, which, once you get beyond the Bush bashing, includes this quote:

It is well known that our ports are a major terrorist target as well as the avenue by which terrorists could smuggle a “dirty bomb” and other harmful materials into this country.

That just one of the numerous quotes, both recent and past, from Dingy Harry.

How about John Kerry?

Specifically, given the national security implications of this sale (DP Ports World), I am concerned about the process by which this transaction was approved by CFIUS.

And how about

“More than four years after the September 11th terrorist attacks, Washington continues to fail our country. American security, our safety, and the lives of our people depend on Washington getting homeland security right. Time and again homeland security experts have made perfectly clear what it takes to make America safe at home, but Washington is still failing to do the basics.”

Meanwhile, they both voted against S. Con. Res. 83, an Amendment to add $978 Million for port security, “including targeted cargo searches and background checks for port employees.” (via GOP.com) The usual cast of Defeatocrats also voted against it, including Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer. Weren’t they pushing for better ports security?

Silly Defeatocrats. Though I bet you will not see this on the news.
