Iranian Urges Calm

Interesting, but worthless (via Yahoo News)

Iran’s foreign minister called Monday for an end to violent protests over the Prophet Muhammad caricatures that have left at least 45 people dead in the Muslim world during the past month.

“We should try to cool down the situation. We do not support any violence,” Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said during a visit to Brussels.

Has he told Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad about that yet? I would think Ahmadinejad would want the protests and violence to continue. As one person in the Phillipines said last week, this is about “the West vs. Islam.” Not country vs country, or blocks of countries, or even on the scale of the IRA vs England, but an entire religion vs the rest of the world.

Meanwhile, Iran has a hissy fit

Iran has decided to boycott the World Ashihara Karate Championship, due on April 15-16, over Prophet Mohammad cartoons, Cabarpur Huseyni, spokesman of the Iranian Karate Federation said.
