The Bonfire of the Koran

So the Muslim extremists got all bent out of shape over the supposed desecration of a Koran (Quran?) as reported by Newsweak, despite there being no evidence, and are still up in arms despite Newsweak retracting the story. Hmm. They don’t seem to have an issue with the real story, which was that a Muslim prisoner was tearing the pages out of his copy of the Koran and flushing them down the crapper in an attempt to block it up. They don’t seem to have a problem with

  • Two children have been killed and their mother wounded in a homemade bomb blast outside a Shia mosque in Baghdad, an army official. (notice the tiny little type in the Al Jazeera story. It was formatted that way)
  • In Baghdad, gunmen killed a Shiite Muslim cleric, and two missing Sunni clerics were found shot dead, police said.
  • In October 2000, after Israeli troops evacuated the city of Nablus as a peacemaking gesture, scores of Palestinians stormed into the Joseph’s Tomb compound and destroyed the site believed to be the burial place of the biblical patriarch Joseph – the son of Jacob who was sold by his brothers into slavery and later became the viceroy of Egypt.
  • The report said that one out of every two mosques in Fallujah were used to hide fighters or weapons during a recent offensive. Fallujah is called the "city of mosques" because it has at least 100 such houses of worship.
  • A Christian preacher in the northern Nigeria city of Kano and six members of his family died in a house fire on April 22. Christian leaders in the city believe Muslim militants deliberately set the fatal blaze.

Getting the picture? It is ok for them to desecrate their own religious icons, as well as those of other religions, but, like the Democratic party, "what is good for the goose is NOT good for the gander." Go figure.
