For allergy sufferers

Now, this seems great, if it works:

Scientists believe they have identified a protein which could be crucial in creating new treatments for allergies.

Researchers told Nature that blocking p110delta in mast
cells – which cause allergic reactions – substantially reduced symptoms
in tests on mice.

To heck with the mice, I’ll try it. For me, dust mites, cut grass, oak, MSG, and scallops. Scallops can actually kill me from anaphalactic shock. Mom is deathly allergic to bee stings. So is a friend of hers. Mi madre fortatously showed up at her house one day, just in time to call the paramedics. It was that close. I have a friend who is allergic to, well, almost everything. And so on and so forth. This would be a great step in science. Allergies aren’t just annoying: they can be painful and life threatening.

I’ve heard that eating local honey is supposed to help a person build an immunity to pollen and to bee stings. My grandma swore it worked, and my mom does too. Can’t hurt to try. I mean for pollen. I don’t think I’d take a chance on the bee stings though!

Um, sorry William, but you’re not responsible enough to allow you to try that on yourself. You see, the government knows better than you what should be tested on whom, and they know that you’re too stupid to make a rational decision, so you are not allowed to be tested upon. Maybe after another 5-10 years and $3-$15 million you will be allowed access to this medicine.

That’s a terrible way of finding out your allergic to something!

It’s probably not bad to be allergic to MSG though. Eating that crap will kill you… cut grass though, that sucks. I can eat as much of that as I like and it doesn’t bother me 🙂

  4. Well, MSG overload actually sent me to the hospital with a chest wall inflamation. Had to take arthritis pills for a week. Too much chinese from the place in my work complex. The problem with MSG allergy is that standard medicine doesn’t stop the allergy like symptoms that it causes. Just have to wait till it goes away. You are right, though, MSG is bad. If people cannot make tasty food without it, they have no business cooking.
