Someone had wrote about John Kerry not being ready for the Internet age, in regards to the Swift Boat Vet controversy. Maybe Right Wing News or Captain Ed or Instapundit, maybe someone else. I forget. But it is true. The Left comes up with these crazy notions (which can seemingly be all found at the DU), and doesn’t realize that we can actually look them up.
Case in point. A Lefty brought up 2 points. HR 4079, and several Executive Orders.
For HR 4079, it was brought up as:

It is a real shame that that HR 4079 was brought up in May 1990 by Newt Gingrich and Phil Gramm. President Bush had zip to do with it.
The Executive Orders: Executive Order 10995 provides for takeover of the communications media. Executive Order 10997 provides for the take over of ALL electric, power, petroleum, gas, fuels and minerals. Executive Order 10988 provides for the takeover of all food resources and farms. Executive Order 10999 provides for the takeover of all modes of transportation control of highways, and seaports. Executive Order 11100 provides for the mobilization of of civilians into work brigades under the Government supervision.
Well, the Lefty in question certainly just took these at face value from another Lefty, as this has circulated for quite some time. However, all the EO’s were done by John F Kennedy! They were replacements for other EO’s. This was the Cold War. And all of them were rescinded by Nixon, all but one in October 1969, one in September 1970. It doesn’t look like there were replacements, and, if you read the originals, they don’t quite say what the Left thinks they say. It is very easy to check. Just go to the Federal Register
The Left needs to get hip to the fact that facts can be checked, usually very easily. Also, that we on the Right can check where they get their talking points from. It is very easy to check the Democratic Underground, especially the forums. I’m not quite sure why Kerry wants the country to have high speed internet access, when his supporters do not know quite how to use it.
