Yes, that’s right, “Cupcakegate.” In other words, Blogger Bob at the Official TSA Blog is making light of a woman being denied the ability to take a cupcake on a flight out of Las Vegas, despite making it through the Boston airport

(TSA Morons Blog) This will be short and “sweet.” Like many of you, when I think of a cupcake, I don’t think of it being in a jar. However, the photo below shows the “cupcake” that was prohibited from being taken into the cabin of a plane last month.

I wanted to make it clear that this wasn’t your everyday, run-of-the-mill cupcake. If you’re not familiar with it, we have a policy directly related to the UK liquid bomb plot of 2006 called 3-1-1 that limits the amount of liquids, gels and aerosols you can bring in your carry-on luggage. Icing falls under the “gel” category. As you can see from the picture, unlike a thin layer of icing that resides on the top of most cupcakes, this cupcake had a thick layer of icing inside a jar.

OMG, icing inside a jar! Carried by a dangerous looking woman from the suburbs (watch the video). If it was being carried by a Middle Eastern looking gent with a long beard and carrying a Koran, yeah, perhaps a concern. TSA could have said “open it up and take a bite”, but, no, no flight for you, Wendy Wasp!

Blogger Bob even mentions two previous incidents where gels were a danger, which involved….that’s right, Islamists! One Anonymous commenter writes

As for “Every officer wants to finish their shift and go home with the peace of mind that they kept potential threats off of airplanes,” did the “officer” involved (who has since been named in the press) really believe he had kept a potential threat off of an airplane, or did he believe that he had demonstrated his and TSA’s power over an innocent citizen, making an example of them?

If only TSA would have such diligence when dealing with actual security threats, you know, members of the Religion that has been involved in the vast majority of security incidents over the past 40 years.

PS: What’s also really sad is that the TSA is using a Blogspot account for their official blog, which is still not as sad as TSA treating cupcakes carried by Wendy Wasp as real security threats. But, then, tinpot dictators and all…..

So, what, are we dropping Hershey’s Kisses from the drones in the tribal regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan?

(Fox News) The White House on Monday defended Vice President Joe Biden for saying that the Taliban isn’t an enemy of the United States despite the years spent fighting the militant Islamic group that gave a home to Al Qaeda and its leader Usama bin Laden while he plotted the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

“It’s only regrettable when taken out of context,” White House spokesman Jay Carney said of the vice president’s remarks in an interview published Monday.

Said context

“Look, the Taliban per se is not our enemy. That’s critical,” Biden said. “There is not a single statement that the president has ever made in any of our policy assertions that the Taliban is our enemy, because it threatens U.S. interests. If, in fact, the Taliban is able to collapse the existing government, which is cooperating with us in keeping the bad guys from being able to do damage to us, then that becomes a problem for us.”

Then why are we bombing them, Joe?

It’s not the first time he’s gone complete bat guano insane, and one of the reasons why he will NEVER be the GOP presidential nominee

(The Hill) Ron Paul said that American policymakers were at least partially at fault for the country being attacked on 9/11 during a discussion of foreign policy on CBS’s Face the Nation Sunday.

Paul argued that the American military presence in Saudi Arabia -rather than ideological differences or anger over American prosperity -were motivation for the September 11 hijackers.

“Just remember that immediately after 9/11, we removed the base in Saudi Arabia, our policies definitely had an influence,” Paul said. “To argue the case they want to do us harm because we’re free and prosperous I think is a very dangerous notion, because it’s not true.”

To some tiny degree, he has a point: Osama Bin Laden used the US presence in Saudi Arabia as a pretext for wanting to hate America and pushing his version of fundamentalist version of Islam. Most of the others in al Qaeda couldn’t have cared less, they just wanted to strike America and the West, pushing their version of Islam. That said, it doesn’t excuse a plot to attempt to kill 50k Americans. Paul uses this line of reasoning to blame America, as he’s dine many times. He won’t divorce himself from the 9/11 Truthers who support him, and his policies of blaming America and isolationism are plain idiotic.

If he’d learn to keep some of his inner monologue inside his head, he’d have a shot. He can’t, and he will never be the GOP nominee.

More: Smitty at The Other McCain writes:

Let me form my objection to Paul as a question: when should you ever take your enemy’s propaganda at face value? When they are Commies? Nazis? Radical Muslims waging explosive jihad?

Read the whole thing.

Had the Bush administration decided to consider negotiating with the head of the brutal Taliban regime, who sheltered Al Qaeda, he would have be (rightly) vilified. Buy, then, we all know Obama likes negotiating with enemies

(UK Telegraph) Washington is ready to negotiate with Taliban leader Mullah Omar and now regards his involvement as crucial to the prospects for peace in Afghanistan, Hillary Clinton has said.

Her comments been taken as a significant shift in American policy from moves to divide the Taliban-led insurgency and isolate Mullah Omar, the man who sheltered Osama bin Laden as he plotted the September 11 attacks, to an acknowledgement of his leadership.

Let’s not forget that Mullah Omar has a $10 million bounty on his head via the….same US State Department that Clinton heads.

I wrote this for posting this morning. Not long after we find out the Taliban launched a suicide attack that killed 13 American military members.

Remember all the times Obama said he could open a dialogue with Iran? Yeah, how’s that working?

(ABC News) FBI and DEA agents have disrupted a plot to commit a “significant terrorist act in the United States” tied to Iran, federal officials told ABC News today.

The officials said the plot included the assassination of the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States, Adel Al-Jubeir, with a bomb and subsequent bomb attacks on the Saudi and Israeli embassies in Washington, D.C. Bombings of the Saudi and Israeli embassies in Buenos Aires, Argentina, were also discussed, according to the U.S. officials.

But, remember, Iran poses no threat to the USA.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said in an announcement today that the plan was “conceived, sponsored and was directed from Iran” by a faction of the government and called it a “flagrant” violation of U.S. and international law.

I’m not a big conspiracy theory person (though they’re fun to bandy about), but one does have to question the timing considering all the trouble Holder is in vis a vis Fast and Furious.

Obviously, there has been a big kerfuffle over the “targeted killing” of Anwar al-Awlaki, a United States citizen turned al Qaeda big wig (along with Samir Khan, another traitor who hails originally from North Carolina). Said kerfuffle is bipartisan in nature, with many saying that killing him amounts to assassination of a US citizen, and is unconstitutional, violating the Fifth and Six Amendments. And along comes far left progressive Roger Simon at The Politico to put it into perspective: Can Obama legally kill you?

Should the president have the right to kill you? And if so, under what circumstances?

If you are a U.S. citizen living in the United States and plotting the murder of your neighbors — let’s say they mow their lawns very early every Sunday — it is unlikely a predator drone will fire a Hellfire missile through your kitchen window and take you out.

President Barack Obama, who has become a huge fan of drones, simply would not dream of doing such a thing, and U.S. law would stop him if he did.

But if you are a U.S. citizen living overseas and plotting the death of American citizens from, let’s say, Yemen, you can say hello to our little friends, the 100-lb. Hellfires.

While I certainly respect those who think we are on a slippery slope, I have to whole-heartedly disagree. Furthermore, if you, as a US citizen, head on over to, say, Yemen on a business trip, you won’t be targeted. Unless you plan on joining an al Qaeda cell and preaching violence and/or performing violence against the United States, at which point, you’re a traitor.

This was apparently the first time a U.S. president targeted a U.S. citizen for death overseas, which has upset any number of people ranging from liberals to Ron Paul.

To which I say: “Get over it.”

Not often you’re going to hear a liberal say that. Of course, let’s be honest, this could be do to Simon being an ObamaZombie, and totally in the bag for Obama, and attempting to protect Obama from criticism. One does wonder what Simon would say had Bush done this, or, say, President McCain.

Further, to my way of thinking, targeting a U.S. citizen for death without trial had precedent. About 75,000 U.S. citizens were killed in action by Union soldiers in the Civil War because these “rebels” were in rebellion against the United States. (Abraham Lincoln never recognized rebel forces as citizens of a foreign country because he never recognized the South’s right to secede.)

Al-Awlaki was in rebellion against the United States, actively trying to kill us. Or so says our Justice Department. But we never arrested al-Awlaki, read him his rights, gave him a lawyer and tried him on cable TV.

Arresting Awlaki would have been very, very difficult, and would have put American lives on the line, provided Yemen even gave the US permission to have members of our armed services operating on the ground in Yemen.

Had this happened back in 2001-2003, there would barely be any discussion of the issue. The farther we have gotten away from 9/11, the more people want to look at the issue as an intellectual study. We remember how some people freaked out over waterboarding a grand total of 3 stone cold terrorists, along with other issues. We remember how we were now supposed to treat stone cold jihadis with kid gloves. But, no, Obama won’t be launching a drone strike on a TEA Party gathering.

I thought this deserved a stand-alone post rather than an adder to the previous post on al-Awlaki

(ACLU Statement) U.S. airstrikes in Yemen today killed Anwar Al-Aulaqi, an American citizen who has never been charged with any crime.

ACLU Deputy Legal Director Jameel Jaffer said, “The targeted killing program violates both U.S. and international law. As we’ve seen today, this is a program under which American citizens far from any battlefield can be executed by their own government without judicial process, and on the basis of standards and evidence that are kept secret not just from the public but from the courts. The government’s authority to use lethal force against its own citizens should be limited to circumstances in which the threat to life is concrete, specific and imminent. It is a mistake to invest the President – any President – with the unreviewable power to kill any American whom he deems to present a threat to the country.”

ACLU National Security Project Litigation Director Ben Wizner said, “Outside the theater of war, the use of lethal force is lawful only as a last resort to counter an imminent threat of deadly attack. Based on the administration’s public statements, the program that the President has authorized is far more sweeping. If the Constitution means anything, it surely means that the President does not have unreviewable authority to summarily execute any American whom he concludes is an enemy of the state.”

The ACLU – protecting Islamic terrorists over law abiding American citizens.

The good news tag is not meant to be it’s usual sarcasm

(CBS News) Anwar al-Awlaki, a U.S.-born radical Islamic preacher who rose to the highest level of al Qaeda’s franchise in Yemen, has been killed.

Al-Awlaki, born in New Mexico, has been linked to al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula’s (AQAP) attempted bombing of a U.S. passenger jet over Detroit on Christmas day, 2009, and was thought to be a leader of the group.

A U.S. government official confirms to CBS News senior security correspondent David Martin that al-Awlaki was killed. Yemen’s Defense Ministry was first to tell CBS News of the strike, but given previous reports which turned out to be erroneous, the relatively rapid U.S. confirmation is crucial, and bolsters witness accounts that it was a U.S. drone strike that killed the al Qaeda figure.

The Associated Press reported that an unidentified source said the U.S. believes al-Awlaki was killed in a strike by U.S. jets and drones on his convoy.

That is excellent news, and, for a change, we do need to give Mr. Obama some credit for continuing to escalate the global war on Islamic terrorism, er, Operation Overseas Contingency, and going after terrorists in nations across the Eastern hemisphere. I think Obama enjoys seeing bombs dropped.

Of course, this brings out the unhinged liberals

Guy from New Mexico Executed Without Trial Just sayin’

Extra judicial killing of a United States Citizen.

They finally did it If he was killed by the Yemini forces as this report says, those forces were probably either led or directed by the U.S. No trial, no evidence need be presented to execute an American because the Obama administration decreed that he was guilty.

And here’s Glenn Greenwald

The due-process-free assassination of U.S. citizens is now reality

After several unsuccessful efforts to assassinate its own citizen, the U.S. succeeded today (and it was the U.S.). It almost certainly was able to find and kill Awlaki with the help of its long-time close friend President Saleh, who took a little time off from murdering his own citizens to help the U.S. murder its. The U.S. thus transformed someone who was, at best, a marginal figure into a martyr, and again showed its true face to the world. The government and media search for The Next bin Laden has undoubtedly already commenced.

Interestingly, a stroll through the left-o-sphere finds virtually no mention of this news. Even Excitable Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs, who made his chops discussing Islamic terrorism, ignores the story. I guess the far left is trying to figure out how to spin this as an Obama and liberal win after so much wailing, hand wringing, and teeth gnashing over Obama’s kill order on al-Awlaki.

More: Oh, my, the loon-atic left is out in force

What we’ve witnessed with Awlaki’s death is the first official assassination based on a citizen practicing his First Amendment rights.

Got that? Preaching violence against US citizens, calling for Jihad, advocating the destruction of the US, and involvement with terrorist activities is now “practicing his 1st Amendment Rights.”

And more: Via The Jawa Report, the strike also got Samir Khan, another home grown Islamist wackjob (or, should that now be, wackedjob?)

The terror group al Qaeda has found itself curiously in agreement with the “Great Satan” — which it calls the U.S. — in issuing a stern message to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: stop spreading 9/11 conspiracy theories.

Well, not all of the Great Satan: remember, over half of Democrats think that Bush knew/assisted and did nothing to stop 9/11.

In the latest issue of the al Qaeda English-language magazine “Inspire”, an author appears to take offense to the “ridiculous” theory repeatedly spread by Ahmadinejad that the 9/11 terror attacks were actually carried out by the U.S. government in order to provide a pretext to invade the Middle East.

“The Iranian government has professed on the tongue of its president Ahmadinejad that it does not believe that al Qaeda was behind 9/11 but rather, the U.S. government,” an article reads. “So we may ask the question: why would Iran ascribe to such a ridiculous belief that stands in the face of all logic and evidence?”

Though Iran was the first of the two to use the “Great Satan” as a synonym for the U.S., the author claims that Iran sees itself as a rival for al Qaeda when it comes to anti-Americanism and was jealous of the 9/11 attacks.

Hmm, perhaps that can be applied to US Truthers, as well: they see a rival for anti-Americanism and the destruction of America.

Hey, remember back in 2009 when Obama signaled he was willing to talk with the Taliban? And how back in March he was thinking about how to talk with the Taliban (and Hezbollah)? And in May, we learned he was actually holding peace talks with the Taliban? Yeah, how’s that working?

Suicide bomb and gun attacks have hit central Kabul, with a string of blasts targeting the US embassy and at least one death reported in a suicide attack in the west of the Afghan capital.

Gunmen are holed up in a high-rise building overlooking the city centre, exchanging gunfire with police.

The Taliban say they are behind the attacks. (snip)

Tuesday’s attacks appear to be a complex operation, with a number of suicide bombers targeting Kabul’s upmarket embassy district, while others struck the west of the city, near the parliament. (snip)

Around five attackers are coordinating their operation from the high rise building which is under construction just 300m from the US embassy, correspondents say, with a rocket-propelled grenade apparently overshooting the embassy.

US officials confirmed the attack around the embassy. “There are no casualties at this time among embassy personnel,” said a spokeswoman.

This is the folly of leftists around the world: they think if they are just nice enough, and open a dialogue, they can reason with barbarians. Meanwhile, the barbarians use that time to foment and plan attacks, and have no intention to seek “peace in our time.” These Islamists despise modern culture (though they’re willing to use weapons they couldn’t possibly invent or build), despise Western civilization, and especially despise America for our freedoms and modern lifestyle. They prefer to live like it is 1200 AD, and want to spread their brand of extremist Islam around the world, including notions of women as chattel, stoning women who are involved in adultery, hanging gays, cutting off hands of thieves, and marrying and having sex with children, much as their “prophet” did. Yet, the worldwide left, which always states they are for “civil rights”, gays, women, and such, coddles these same barbarians.

Of course, lefties also refuse to go live in those same areas in order to spread awareness and understanding. Most know they will be treated pretty bad. They’re naive, not complete morons. Well, it could be that they just refuse to give up their fancy dress cocktail parties where they discuss how mean Conservatives are when it comes to these barbarians.

The Telegraph has live updates on the attacks.
