It’s pretty much mule fritters

Former President George W. Bush is denying a report that he once said he would have endorsed Barack Obama in 2008 if the Democrat had asked.

“This is ridiculous and untrue,” Bush spokesman David Sherzer told POLITICO. “President Bush proudly supported John McCain in the election and voted for him.”

A blog post on the website of the Financial Times claimed Tuesday that Bush made the remarks during an Oval Office meeting with British dignitaries, including former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

“I probably won’t even vote for the guy,” the FT reports Bush having said of McCain.

“I had to endorse him,” Bush is reported to have said. “But I’d have endorsed Obama if they’d asked me.”

Who are you going to believe, a guy who sat on what would have been a HUGE story during the 2008 Silly Season, or Bush, who knows what he said better? I’m going with Bush. He may have been a Big Government Social Conservative (really, I equate him more with a JFK liberal), but, there was no possible way he would have endorsed Obama, who was continuously slamming and slurring him all during the campaign, and certainly Bush could have seen what a disaster an Obama presidency would have been.

Meanwhile, the Typical Unhinged Liberals are showing up in the reviews of Decision Points at Amazon by people who didn’t even read the book

worst president ever What is this? a recall of how he fleeced a nation and wrecked the environment? or how he stirred up terrorism by murdering thousands of innocent people in the middle east. I don’t have to read it. I was there.

Don’t buy it! If you do buy it, you support a criminal, a man who is responsible for the deaths of thousands of lives. Think about it.

Best of recent crime fiction! Too bad this guy will never even be held partly responsible for the decline and fall of the American Empire.

Great Insight into the Mind of a Mass Murderer This fascinating account of the life and crimes of former US President George W. Bush is a riveting insight into one of the world’s greatest criminal minds and mass murderers. Having remained silent for two years following his ousting as President, Bush now lifts the lid on the Whitehouse Murders and an array of other criminal activities that have blighted his past.

From his own admission as “the costliest mistake I have ever made” relating to his decision to not admit a 1976 conviction for a drink driving offence when running for the Whitehouse, to his friendship with fellow killer Tony Blair, whom Bush once alarmingly likened to Churchill, it’s all here, the lies, the deceit, the condoning of water-boarding torture methods on Iraqi prisoners, the illegal invasion of foreign lands and the massacre of innocents in what has to be the cornerstone of any library dealing with True Crime. The best read since “The Jeffrey Dahmer Story: An American Nightmare”… but it’s not recommended as bedside reading when alone in the house. A truly chilling book!

And it goes on and on. Funny part, that last comment, the Moonbat messed up and gave the book 4 stars.

Well, so far, the ending looks to be funny as heck

A sit-in at Senator John McCain’s Tucson office Monday led to a trip to jail for four people, three of them illegal immigrants, and could now mean that they will be kicked out of the country.

“We’re dedicated,” said Yahaira Carrillo, who came to the United States 18 years ago illegally with her parents. “This is home. I don’t know what life is like in Mexico, I don’t know what working there is like.”

“Everyone was very supportive,” said Mohammad Abdollahi about the staff and officers whom he met on Monday. He came with his parents from Iran more than twenty years ago, when he was three years old.

If you are an illegal, perhaps you should not pop your head up and put yourself in the crosshairs of law enforcement. Seems pretty common sense, especially since ICE initiated deportation proceedings against the three. Though it is doubtful that Abdollahi will be deported, since he is from Iran, and is gay (the other two are illegals from Mexico, whose parents brought them when they were much younger). Which is why I have maintained that there are certain circumstances where we cannot just get rid of them all. Nor can we just provide amnesty. There needs to be a big fine. Pay back taxes and Social Security fees. They must speak, or learn, English. They must have a damned good reason for staying. And, like most other countries require, these people must provide value. Otherwise, hit the road!

And we need to secure the borders first, before anything is even considered.

Meanwhile, the Costa Mesa city council has declared that it will not be a sanctuary city, and will crack down further on illegals. Of course, there always have to be a few whiners

The resolution passed despite pleas from community members. No one in the audience spoke in favor of it.

“Immigrants are part of America,” Silvia Hernandez told the council. “We work, pay taxes, go to church and participate in our communities. We need a solution that brings people out of the shadows.”

Yeah. Legal immigrants. Most of the rest are criminals, and can get the hell out.

I know, I know, everyone likes to dismiss the birther movement as comprised solely of wackos, and, quite frankly, most of the leaders are true wackos, digging into this and that, feeding off each others conspiracy theories. But, even Camp McCain investigated, and found them lacking. Why? (via Just One Minute)

“To the extent that we could, we looked into the substantive side of these allegations,” said Potter. “We never saw any evidence that then-Senator Obama had been born outside of the United States. We saw rumors, but nothing that could be sourced to evidence. There were no statements and no documents that suggested he was born somewhere else. On the other side, there was proof that he was born in Hawaii. There was a certificate issued by the state’s Department of Health, and the responsible official in the state saying that he had personally seen the original certificate. There was a birth announcement in the Honolulu Advertiser, which would be very difficult to invent or plant 47 years in advance.”

Look, I’ve written, and said, time and time again that, IMO, Obama is a natural born citizen till proven otherwise by concrete evidence.

On the flip side, a birth announcement from back then is not proof of birth. Anyone could have place it, and, who at a paper would check it? That Certificate of Live Birth that was printed in 2006 and first showed up on the Daily Kos? Real, IMO. However, just 40+ years ago, it would have been easy to claim a birth, as people did not always have them at a hospital. So, as Tom Maguire writes

My point, then and recently – Barack’s mom and maternal grandparents had a strong incentive to create a paper trail documenting Obama as a US citizen back in 1961 and it had nothing to do with assuring his future viability as a Presidential candidate. Alll they needed to do was imagine a day when the white Ms. Dunham would be engaged in a custody fight in a Kenyan court contesting the fate of a black Kenyan baby sought by the black Kenyan father and his African family, and their course would have been clear.

Would someone have lied about where a baby was born in order to make sure they had full American citizenship? Sure. People have been coming to the US legally and illegally for quite some time. You didn’t, and don’t, see them streaming to Russia and China, do you? And, yeah, I know it is a stretch. And I will continue to say that Obama is a natural born citizen till I see concrete proof. But, it does get me wondering why it is so tough for Obama to pony up $10 and go “here. A real copy of my birth certificate.” I’ll give him $10. Instead, he and the Democrats are fighting off lawsuit after lawsuit, spending lots of money. Why? Granted, most of the suits are wackadoodle. But, it gets me wondering. Not much, but, a tiny tiny bit.

It also gets me wondering about journalistic curiosity. Most of them poo poo the idea, but, said almost nothing about the 9/11 Twoofer idiocy. Imagine it was McCain who was president, and people were going off with their “McCain was born in Panama, he can’t be considered natural born!!!” foolishness, which showed up not only on the DU and lefty sites, but, the New York Times in February 2008 (shortly after it appeared on the DU.) Then again in July, 2008.

One thing to consider, though, is that the Left can marginalize much of the Right by allowing them to continue going full bore on this issue. Yes, it would be nice to see the full document. But, do not overdo it, folks. There are bigger fights out there. On the flip side, I once asked Captain Ed, back when he was still doing it solo on Captains Quarters, why he argued with the Twoofers. He said that it is important to knock the conspiracies down. Might it also be important to investigate the claims of the birthers? Some. Not all, of course. Some are way to wacky. But, we knocked down the Twoofer stuff with facts. Why wouldn’t we do the same here?

Now, Mousavi is not really for as much openness and reform as people may think, and certainly not on the international front, but, at this point, he may be opening a can of worms that could force major changes in Iran

Iranian opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi has called for a mass rally to protest the country’s hotly-disputed election results and violence against his supporters.

The call, which appeared on his Web site Thursday, presents a direct challenge to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who said Tuesday evening that Mousavi should pursue his demands through the country’s electoral system.

But Mousavi appears to have no intention of backing down. His announcement came shortly after the country’s most powerful military force said that Iranian Web sites and bloggers must remove any materials that “create tension” or face legal action.

This could be one of those times when a reckless risk comes out spectacularly. Or goes down in flames, and there is no middle option in sight. We shall have to wait and see.

The nation got a glimpse Tuesday morning of exactly what President John McCain would be up to if last November’s election had gone differently.

“We lead,”McCain told NBC’s David Gregory on the “Today” show when asked about a different vote altogether — the one in Iran on Friday. “We condemn the sham, corrupt election. We do what we have done throughout the Cold War and afterwards … We speak out forcefully, and we make sure that the world knows that America leads.”

Imagine, having a president who has a moral compass, and understands the greatness and power of the U.S.A., rather then an ideologue who doesn’t want to “meddle” in foreign affairs. Unless it is about Israeli settlements, of course.

Well, well, well, here’s an investigation that most Democrats, such as Barney Frank, will not want

Sens. Bryon Dorgan (D-N.D.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) are calling for a congressional investigation into how we got into the economic crisis.

“[The American people] want to know how we got into this ditch – the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression,” McCain said. “They have a right to know. So far, the answers have not been forthcoming.

Dorgan, the chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, and McCain, the ranking member of the Senate Commerce Committee, say the government has devoted nearly $9 trillion in bailouts to help stabilize an economy that has seen $8 trillion in stock market losses, 5 million lost jobs and millions of foreclosure filings.

But, they say, there have been “very few answers” about why this situation came about.

“I think if you asked average citizens of America today ‘Do you know why this happened and how it happened?’ I think most Americans would say that they really don’t understand what happened, and that contributes to their anger and frustration,” McCain said.

Considering that one of the root causes was the financial meltdowns of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, run by Democrats and propped up by poor Democrat policies, along with the Community Reinvestment Act, and Republicans tried to fix them, and were blocked, an investigation would be fun! But, probably will never happen, because it would make Dems look bad, and they have more idiotic things to investigate during basement hearings

Former top aides to President George W. Bush agreed Wednesday to testify before Congress under oath about the firings of U.S. attorneys, a controversy involving allegations of political interference that became a major issue in Bush’s second term.

“Mr. Rove, Ms. Miers, what happened?” “We fired attorneys that serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States. Big woop. Clinton fired them all. Now, be careful with that Tinker Toy gavel, OK?”

Just another manufactured outrage by the Democrats, which, too be honest, the Bush White House blew in replying too.

After years of a constant Credentialed Media drumbeat of how bad the war deaths have been, particularly in Iraq, while mostly avoiding mention of the decreases caused by The Surge, now, with 21 days left with Dubya as President, they want to tell us how great things have gone because of The Surge. Perhaps some folks have already started on their New Years celebrations at the USA Today

As 2008 ends, U.S. troop deaths for the year in Iraq and Afghanistan are the lowest combined total since the Iraq war began in 2003.

Gen. Ray Odierno, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, warned against complacency as the Americans hand off security to Iraqi forces in the new year and more U.S. forces head to Afghanistan.

“In military terms, transitions are always the most dangerous,” he said. “We’re trying to make sure we don’t have any seams in our transition.”

Clue for the cluebats at USelessA Today: the majority of provinces in Iraq have been handed over to the Iraq forces.

Bombings remain a daily threat in Iraq, mostly hurting civilians. Military deaths have gone down significantly in Iraq since the buildup of U.S. troops in 2007 and a push to recruit former Sunni insurgents into Iraq’s security forces.

So, in other words, The Surge that John McCain and President Bush pushed for, and Obama was totally against, worked? Well, better late then never.

One of the things that drove the Dubya supporters, such as myself, nuts was the ways he barely defended himself and his policies. Obviously, one doesn’t want to spend much time when the attacks are personal, giving them credence, or, as the old saying goes “never argue with an idiot. They’ll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.” But, in politics, one has to engage to some degree. And, it looks like Sarah Palin has decided that she will smack the vicious McCain aids in the face with a salmon

Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska fired back Friday at the unnamed McCain campaign aides who have been maligning her in recent days, saying that their criticism was “cruel and it’s mean-spirited, it’s immature, it’s unprofessional, and those guys are jerks.”

“So, no, I think that if there are allegations based on questions or comments that I made in debate prep about Nafta, and about the continent versus the country when we talk about Africa there, then those were taken out of context,” Ms. Palin said. “And that’s cruel and it’s mean-spirited, it’s immature, it’s unprofessional, and those guys are jerks, if they came away with it taking things out of context and then tried to spread something on national news. It is not fair and not right.”

The only person who can truly stop this is John McCain, and, while he has made some public calls for the aids to cut it out, they don’t seem to be listening. Of course, we do not know what is occurring behind the scenes. And, McCain made some inroads with the conservative base. He could certainly continue that stature by coming to Palin’s side, rather then acting as Big Daddy during a siblings dispute.

Anyhow, it is nice to see a Republican fighting back, and, if the McCain aids want to continue their anonymous smears, they will have a tough road, because she will not take it, and the conservative base will not take it.

Maybe I am jumping the gun, but, as of midnight, looks like it will be Obama. Oh, well. Such is life. It will give all these feel good folks, who only see the programs who paint Dems as cute fluffy bunnies and Republicans as mean nasty bulldogs, a good dose of what a hard left agenda will do to their lives. I predict that the Misery Index will return by August.

And, at least the won’t have the 60 votes they need in the Senate.

What is your prediction on how low the stock market goes Wednesday?
