I guess this is what happens when tech support jobs go to people who are being paid a few dollars an hour, at the most

INTELLIGENCE warnings of an Islamic terror attack on Mumbai were “lost in the system”, it was revealed yesterday.

Nine days before terrorists arrived by boat to launch a three-day assault on the Indian city, security services received information that it was to be targeted.

The intelligence even warned that the strike would come from the sea.

In total, 172 people, including two Australians, died in last week’s attacks. Almost 400 were injured.

Yesterday, India stated it had proof linking its nuclear rival Pakistan to the massacre and warned it would raise security to “war level”.

Authorities have acknowledged that a warning was received. Intelligence officials say it was passed to the navy, coastguard and police. But the agencies say it did not reach them. “It appears to have been lost in the system,” one official said yesterday.

That reminds me of the way some past president and his monions crafted policy that made it so that intelligence and law enforcement agencies couldn’t talk to each other. And now those same folks will be back in government in higher positions.

James Earl Jones/Darth Vader voice over “This..is endangering your life news” As reported in the Wales Online

Lynne and Kenneth Shaw, of Penarth, warned that terrorists were listening in to the media to pinpoint Western victims. Mrs Shaw claimed the American cable TV channel had broadcast details of where they were at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.

She has appealed to the media to be careful with the information it broadcasts because safety could be compromised and lives lost.

The couple flew back into Heathrow yesterday morning on a flight arranged by the British Consulate. Mrs Shaw had been forced to hide under a table as terrorists stormed the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. She and her husband were later rescued by Gurkhas and taken straight to the Australian Embassy for safety.

The couple were at the end of a month-long visit to India and were staying in Mumbai for a few days before heading back to the UK. From her home in Penarth yesterday, Mrs Shaw said: “We have been asked by the British terror police not to talk to the press.

“But the reason I would not want to talk to anyone is because our safety was actually compromised by CNN, which broadcast where we were.

“The terrorists were watching CNN and they came down from where they were in a lift after hearing about us on television. For that reason I would appeal to the media to be very careful about what they broadcast.

“Search the hotel for survivors, I want them brought to me. Alive, dead, whatever.”

It has been an interesting, to put it mildly, day for terrorism. First we have the credible, but unsubstantiated, threat for attacks against the NY City subway city over the holiday long weekend, then we have the attacks in India. I will refer you to Jay’s post, rather then rewrite it all. He is on top of it big time. I’ve been out most of the afternoon.

But, as I usually do, I checked some of the hard left sites, and found a more then very interesting post, where a few DUmmies try to explain the issue of Islamic terrorism to others. Might not be fair to call them all DUmmies, but, it isn’t always a negative term. Let’s watch as India3 and regnaD kciN explain. It’s long, but interesting

India3 Quick! Somebody equate this to Christian fundamentalists! And HURRY! nt

nc4bo A particularly irresponsible pundit was quick to say it sounded like an AQ terrorist attack. It just squirted right out of his mouth like a runny poo.

Our media should be placed under a gag order. No more “news” “reporting” for those folks.

Ridiculous.

regnaD kciN What’s so irresponsible about that? It sure sounds like an al-Qaeda attack to me. And I have zero doubt that this “Deccan Brotherhood” will turn out to have ties to al-Qaeda, if not be a complete offshoot of it.

Bornaginhooligan Because it turned out it wasn’t Al Qaeda. So everybody that jumped the gun and blamed Al Qaeda turned out to be fools.

“And I have zero doubt that this “Deccan Brotherhood” will turn out to have ties to al-Qaeda, if not be a complete offshoot of it.”

When in doubt, keep digging the hole even deeper, eh?

India3 I never said it was AQ. I did say it was muslim extremists…shocker, I know. nt

Bornaginhooligan When you exploit a terrorist attack in a bigoted promotion of the supremacy of your religion, that’s the least of what you deserve.

(Here we really go) India3 I’m not really a Christian anymore. But I am reasonable. And trying to equate the two issues… is unreasonable…at best. Look upthread. It’s DU’s typical knee-jerk response to any post on Islamic terrorism. And its aburd. Thus, I called out the abusrdity.

Bornaginhooligan It’s a typical freeper’s response… to blame Islam for any given act of terrorism.

And then pretend that Christianity is any better.

“Thus, I called out the abusrdity.”

regnaD kciNAnd it’s a typical DU response…..to, any time there’s an attack by radical Islamists, to equate it to Christian fundamentalists.

“Wow…al-Qaeda destroyed the WTC and attacked the Pentagon, killing 3,000 civilians. That’s just like some fundy Christian setting off a home-made bomb at an abortion clinic in South Bumfuck in the middle of the night when it was empty. No difference at all.”

Bornaginhooligan Generally, Nick, most DUers aren’t bigots. Therefore they won’t go around blaming religions for acts of terrorism.

If some freeper wants to bring up muslims killing 3,000 Americans on 9-11, we might bring up the fact that Americans have murdered 1.2 million muslims in Iraq. But only to point out how stupid such religious bigotry is.

You’ll notice nobody brought up Christianity until somebody made disparaging marks against Islam.

India3 Uh, I guarantee this was done by muslim extremists. I mean, really? And Christian fundamentalists are not “good” by any means. Many of them can be bigoted, close minded, and adverse to human rights and the constitution.

But Islamic fundamentalists are racking up a substantial body count around the globe, with today being no exception. Not to mention Sharia law makes the Dominionists look like libertarians.

So yes. Islam has FAR worse, and more dangerous, problems than Christianity. By FAR.

Keep trying though, it’s amusing watching people struggle to equate the two.

Bornaginhooligan Oh, it turns out it was. But for all you knew when you posted in this thread it could have been Christians.

“So yes. Islam has FAR worse, and more dangerous, problems than Christianity. By FAR.”

Tell it to the 1.2 million dead muslims in Iraq. (there’s that made up number again)

India3 Once again, you struggle to see the difference between a atrocities committed by a secular…government and religious extremists killing in the name of their religion. THAT is the topic we are discussing in this thread.

For example, Saddam Hussein was a muslim yes? When he attacked Iran and committed atrocities against the Kurds, he was not doing so because of Islam. He was doing so because he was a greedy, power hungry, evil mother f*****r. That violence, carried out by a muslim, was not an example of Islamic terrorism. Do you get it yet? Is this sinking in?

Now see George Bush, Christian, invading Iraq for oil and power. Which is a…you guessed it…secular purpose!!!

How many Iraqis have we forcibly converted to Christianity? How many churches have we built? Have we instilled “Christian Law”? Shoved the 10 commandments down the throats of the Iraqi people?

That’s what I thought. It was a greed and power motivated invasion, old school. Which means it is outside the bounds of our little conversation on Religious extremists and the attacks they carry out. (well, not really gree and power, but, at least it is closer then W doing it because God told him to, which is mentioned in the thread, but I am going to skip due to relevance)

India3 Imperial British = Religious fundamentalists? Sorry, try again. What I was alluding to is DU’s never ending quest to equate a very real and dangerous problem of Islamic extremists with Christian fundamentalists here in the United States. It’s absurd. But “fundies” vote Republican, so let’s just throw all reason and logic out the window right?

And yes, yes I know. Crusades from 500 years ago, abortion clinic bombings, Matthew Sheppard, etc etc. Same thing of course.

Bornaginhooligan Yeah, yeah, yeah it’s OK whent Christians do it. Heard it all before.

India3 No, it’s not ok when Christian terrorists kill people in the name of their religion. And that’s not at all what happened in the link you posted. The two situations are not analogous by any reasonable standard. As I said before, try again.

Do you not understand the difference between imperial country with secular goals (greed and power)committing atrocities and religious extremists killing in the name of their religion?

They’re two different situations entirely. Yet you and other DU’ers desperately try to equate them in a haphazard attempt to protect your skewed world view.

valerief You mean the people who bomb abortion clinics? nt

India3 Around a dozen or so people have died in abortion clinic bombings…ever. Ever. What you wrote was EXACTLY the type of DU ridiculousness I was alluding to in my post.

Trying to compare Christian fundamentalist and Muslim extremists is absurd. And it happens every time somebody posts a story about some sort of terrorist attack. Without fail. I just beat you to the punch this time.

(Then we get in to all sorts of discussion about Timothy McVeigh-skipping it mostly)

Bornaginhooligan Tim McVeigh is to Christianity what Osama bin Laden is to Islam.

The standard boiler plate from McVeigh’s Michigan Militia involved the standard fundamentalist Christian propaganda about “restoring” Christianity to the government, and so on.

India3 Bullsh*t. Total bullsh*t. You’re just lying now.

Osama Bin Laden got his START as an international asshole because he was offended that infidels (US troops) were in the Muslim holy land of Saudi Arabia. His entire being is premised on his perverted strain of ISLAM. He is a terrorist killing in the name of his religion, just listen to one of his “greatest hits” tapes. Every other sentence is “jihad this”, “allah that” or “martyr what”.

I dare you to find me any evidence that McVeigh blew up that building with even a scintilla of religion as motivation. Go for it.

Bornaginhooligan You’re describing a secular motivation to his terrorism.

bin Laden wanted the U.S. government out of his homeland.

McVeigh wanted the same thing.

India3 He wanted “infidels”, non-muslims, out of his homeland. That was the motivation. It’s well documented.

Where’s that McVeigh link? I’m waiting.

valerief LOL! Go back to Freeperville! You’re no Dem. nt (thanks for that no reply reply, val)

regnaD kciN Who died and made you Leader of the Purge? Christians have done horrible things in the name of their religion. Jews have done horrible things in the name of their religion. Muslims have done horrible things in the name of their religion. The same can be said for Hindus, Buddhists, Shintos, etc, etc.

BUT…at this point in world history, no one except Muslims seem to have a large contingent of believers who apparently think it’s a religious duty to indiscriminately kill huge numbers of innocent civilians in order to achieve their goals.

And, if acknowledging that fact is enough to make one a “Freeper” in the eyes of the blame-Christians-for-everything brigade here at DU, then maybe it’s time for “Freeper” to become a badge of honor.

valerief Jeepers, more Freepers! Ciao. nt

Unfortunately, the opinions of Bornaginhooligan match more what the general far left/progressive opinions are. regnaD kciN and India3 are way, way, way outside the mainstream liberal thought. Which is why there is a big disconnect in the way the left and right want to fight the war on terrorism. And why, as Obama learns about the reality of the situations, you are going to get more people on the Left going wonky on him. He will learn the kind of venom that has been thrown at Dubya.

Pretty sad that a confirmed Progressive tries to explain is utterly ignored, eh?

BTW, can we stop calling them the religion of peace now?

BTBTW: last time there was a big terrorist attack, myself and a bunch of others were banned in India. One of the reasons given was because our sites were supposedly use for the jihadi’s to communicate. Not the real reason, but, they were digging because they are scared of the 13% of the India population that is Muslim.

“It’s an entire cocktail of downloader Trojans and dropper Trojans,” Landesman said Friday, putting the number of malicious files involved at 434. This includes scripts, binaries, cookies, and images.

Landesman characterized the size of the malicious payload as unusually large. She also noted that the attack involved a large number of Web sites. Analyzing just two of the binaries, she said that ScanSafe had identified at least 18 different IP addresses involved in the attack.

And India has my little site, along with 17 others, on the official banned list? Technically, while the order is not being enforced, it was never rescinded.

The Celebrity Big Brother winner was released only after prolonged questioning after being stopped at Mumbai Airport, according to reports, on her way to the opening of the Miss Bollywood musical in Berlin.

Shetty was held at Mumbai Airport by immigration officials who had no record of a Supreme Court ruling which overturned a ban on her leaving the country.

People may call India the largest democracy on Earth (population wise), but, just like myself and others being banned in India, where is the freedom? Being arrested over a kiss? Ridiculous.

Perhaps that headline is a little bit insulting, but, hey, so many Muslims seem to be stuck in the 14th century, so, this would be a good upgrade

CALCUTTA — Indian Muslim leaders are uniting with female students in opposition to a "fatwa" or Islamic edict demanding that Muslim girls stay away from academic institutions where boys are studying.

The order, issued by the influential theological school of Darul Uloom Deoband in northern India last week, said coeducation should be banned in schools, colleges, universities and even religious schools because it creates the potential for many evils.

But in an unprecedented display of solidarity, many Muslim leaders have joined with female students across India to oppose the edict, charging that it is detrimental to the real development of Muslim society.

Maybe they have realized that it is really nice to have women around. They are soft and cuddly and pleasant and brighten our lives, particularly when they are empowered to be their own people, rather then as chattel, which is the way they seem to be considered in so much of the muslim world. Any man who doesn’t enjoy seeing a group of women in bikini’s, raise your hand (yes, kinda sexist, on the surface, but, sure makes a man smile!)

And what better way to get men to participate in school then with women around? What guy doesn’t want to show off around them? Impress them?

From what I am finding, he Darul Uloom Deoband school is mildly extremists, wanting full sharia law, and, supposedly, the Taliban were following their teachings. Maybe Rusty at The Jawa Report knows more.

"Studying in a coeducation institution is not unlawful for boys and girls as long as they follow Islamic values and remain within its parameters," said Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, a spokesman for the All Indian Muslim Personal Law Board [AIMPLB].

OK, moving back to the 1920′s now.

Hey, Muzzies, wake up! Females are great!

I wonder how this will affect my banned in India status? Will a few Miss India’s in bikini’s help?

I started writing this back on Monday the 12th of March, when I saw this post over at Ogre's, regarding sites being banned in China. According to Ogre, I was banned. But, every time I tried to check, I got "cannot open URL." So, I kinda forgot about it until I could do a proxy IP check, though I did do an Aside post back to Ogre.

Well, today I noticed that Basil was writing about it, in regards to having a corner widget (go over and you will see it.) That post referenced a previous post about being banned in China. I left a comment, and Basil was nice enough to recommend turning off Bad Behavior to check. And, guess what? Yup, Pirate's Cove is banned, both with and without the WWW.

You can check here, at The Great Wall Of China

Also banned is my test site, PC Test, both with and without the WWW, which is pretty wild since it is strictly a test site, only a few posts. Maybe the Chinese do not like the NJ Devils.

Gallery and The American Flag League are A-OK, but a blog I set up to show what I would like to do for the Carolina's sales channel is blocked.

So, that makes two countries (that I know about) who are blocking me. The orders for the India ban are still in effect, though many providers in India are ignoring it. Two of the most populous countries in the world. And I still cannot get banned in a Muslim country. Might have to try a proxy IP through France, though

Terrorism at work (from MSNBC)

Two homemade bombs exploded on a train headed for Pakistan, setting off a fire that swept through two cars and killed at least 66 people. A government minister said the violence was aimed at undermining the peace process between India and Pakistan.

Authorities said two suitcases packed with unexploded crude bombs and bottles of gasoline were found in cars not hit in the attack, leading them to suspect the fire was set off by an identical explosive device.

“It’s sabotage — it’s an act of terrorism like the one in Mumbai,” Railway Minister Laloo Prasad told reporters in Patna, India, referring to serial bomb blasts in Mumbai last July that killed 186 people. “This is an attempt to derail the improving relationship between India and Pakistan.”

Said blast in Mumbai was the supposedly the reason that myself, along with 16 other websites, including Yahoo pictures, were banned in India. I wonder who will be banned this time? That might be a little insensitive, seeing as how it is unknown, or at least not released, who was behind the bombing. More then likely, though, who was behind the bombing is a Muslim group of one sort or the other. There is a good chance that it is the seperatists from Kashmir, which is largely Muslim.

Last years blast that killed over 200 involved Muslims

Police say Lashkar-e-Tayyaba, or Army of the Pure, a Pakistan-based Islamic militant group, as well as the Students’ Islamic Movement of India, or SIMI, a banned group based in northern India, were behind those blasts. Officials also have alleged that Pakistani intelligence was involved in the attacks, but Pakistan repeatedly has denied the accusation.

There have also been other train attacks by these Islamic groups. The media tries their best to hide and diminish the role of Muslim groups in the majority of terrorist attacks, but the proof is in the puddin'. How often do you hear about a terrorist attack by Christians? The secular media would trumpet that from the rafters, like with Timothy McVeigh.

Some people have wondered whether the ban on the websites, as put forth by the India Dept. Of Telecommunications is still in effect. I recently had an interview with a nice you woman for a newspaper article, which should be out this week, regarding this issue.

Well, as far as I can determine, it is in effect. It's just that most of the Indian internet providers are ignoring it, and I suppose that the DoT is not pushing it.

However, every once in awhile I play with proxy IP's. In this case "202.159.203.156 port 80." This is what I recieved:

Yes, yes, a 500 server error can be many things. However, consider. The Jawa Report, Macker's World, Pajama Editors, Common Folks Using Common Sense (old and new address'), MVRWC, Opinipundit and Merri Musings (new address), Yahoo Pictures, and my site all had that 500 error. Yet, several Blogger sites, such as Amy Ridenhours National Center blog and Julie With a B (I tested more) did not. CNN did not. Google did not. Yahoo did not. Several stand alone blogs, such as Moonbattery, Michelle Malkin, Just Raven and Hooah Wife and Friends did not (I did test more, too). Nor did Basil, who uses Dreamhost like I do. Nor did my American Flag League, despite it sort of being part of the piratescove.us domain. Nor did my ncdevil.com/pc test blog, same server as piratescove.us.

Also, several mu nu blogs got the same error. I did not test them all, but everyone I did, bupkiss!

Yet, we still aren't banned in Iran or Saudi Arabia. I played with some alt IP's from them, too. We are just banned by a so called democracy.
