Senator Mark Warner (D): Nope, No Evidence Of Collusion

So, um, what, exactly, is being investigated at this point?

(CNS News) Jake Tapper, host of CNN’s “State of the Union,” asked Warner: “One of the big questions, of course, is, is there any evidence of collusion that you have seen yet? Is there?”

Warner (D-Va.) responded:

Listen, there’s a lot of smoke. We have no smoking gun at this point. But there is a lot of smoke.

And, again, one of the questions we will have, not only for Director Comey on Thursday, but on Wednesday for Director of National Intelligence (Dan) Coats and NSA, National Security — NSA Director Admiral (Michael) Rogers, I’m going to want to ask them, because there have been reports that the president also talked to both of them in terms of asking them to downplay the Russian investigation.

That would be very concerning to me.

This is reminding me of the Valerie Plame affair. The special prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald, already knew who leaked initially: Richard Armitage, by accident. And knew it early. Yet, Fitzgerald kept investigating and investigating, eventually getting Scooter Libby for silly stuff. In this case, the Dems keep investigating and investigating and investigating, but, there is nothing there. No proof. Just unsubstantiated feelings, and massive butthurt from losing the election to Donald Trump.

After all these months, all they have is “smoke.”

    In other news:

Senate Committee on the Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley has launched a new investigation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s effort to thwart a Bangladesh government corruption probe of Muhammad Yunus, a Clinton Foundation donor and close friend of the Clintons.

They keep investigating long enough and they’re going to uncover the Russian ties to Hillary and the DNC

Mark Warner: We have no smoking gun at this point. But there is a lot of smoke.

When there’s a lot of smoke, it is considered prudent to investigate for fire.

Mark Warner: Yet, Fitzgerald kept investigating and investigating, eventually getting Scooter Libby for silly stuff.

Libby was convicted of perjury and obstruction, hardly “silly stuff”. His commutation the investigation that might have shown that he was acting at the behest of higher-ups.

    • Zachriel says:

Yikes. Second quote should be attributed to William Teach. The last sentence should read “His commutation {ended} the investigation …”

    • The investigation should have ended when they knew the leaker was Armitage. After that, it was a fishing expedition.

The only smoke here is butthurt Dems and the Mean Girl Media who cannot accept the fact that Chappaquatch lost.
It’s also a political diversion to keep investigations of the Clinton Criminal Cartel out of the headlines.

      Z,
You are wrong in so many ways, has your little group been sleeping with Jeff? Libby was convicted of making statements that did not jive with one of his depositions. Ever given a deposition, ever sat through one? NO. Even when you are telling the truth, questions in a deposition are framed in a manner to distort the truth, you will likely learn how to do this when you finish high school and go to college and then law school, I am laughing as the possibility is remote. As to smoke, this is the same crap that the media pulled on Nixon. They kept haranguing until they invented something. They are doing the same to Trump. The bigger questions are why we aren’t prosecuting Hillary and her group for their numerous crimes and arresting Obama and his gang for incompetence, contributing to the murder of individuals and corruption. Even if Trump did everything that he is accused of, he did not break a law.

      • Zachriel says:

david7134: Libby was convicted of making statements that did not jive with one of his depositions.

The jury was certain of his guilty, but many thought he was the fall guy for higher-ups.

Seriously? Nixon’s Attorney General was convicted of conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and perjury. Other of his associates were also convicted of various crimes. Nixon was pardoned or he probably would have been convicted, as well.

  4. david7134 says:

I lived during the time, Nixon did nothing, one of our best presidents.

Did you actually read what I said about Libby? Did you understand it? As to a jury, I am laughing. If you are going into law you need to understand that lawyers select the stupidest people in the room to serve.

    • drowningpuppies says:

      Gotta correct you there, dave.
Nixon didn’t do anything that hadn’t been done before by his Democrat predecessors; FDR, JFK, and LBJ. He just didn’t have the media or his party covering for him.
      Sound familiar???
Best contemporaneous book on the subject was written by Victor Lasky titled:
      “It Didn’t Start with Watergate”

      A good review here:

Oh, btw, I was in college at the time and voted for Nixon in ’72.

        • david7134 says:

I voted for him as Well and he kept me out of Vietnam. Basically, all I could tell was that he was looking for sources of Dem leaks which were getting people killed. It spiraled out of control thanks to lack of Rep help. Sound familiar? Obama has done far worse and not a whisper.

          • drowningpuppies says:

Obama makes Nixon look like a piker.
At least Nixon was a patriotic American.
            Obama not so much.

  5. Jeffery says:

So now it seems the Russians may have actually hacked the electoral process, a set of facts hidden by the administration until now.

Once leaked, the trumpitistas arrested the leaker.

Did the Russians get trump elected? What did trump know and when?

    • david7134 says:

You are quoting time??? Get real. The only evidence of election impropriety that I saw was the voting machines from Soros not putting up the votes for Trump. And the only evidence of election interference that I saw was coming from Soros funded efforts. And at the end of the day, all the hacking showed was how bad Hillary and the DNC really are, we most definitely don’t want the American people to know that.

  6. drowningpuppies says:

So now it seems the Russians may have actually hacked the electoral process

    Uh, no it doesn’t.

  7. JGlanton says:

There would have been nothing better for the Russians than four more years of feckless Obama and pay-to-play Hillary. Four more years of Russia doing anything they please.

  8. JGlanton says:

While visiting Moscow on March 24, 2010: “Our goal is to help strengthen Russia.”

  9. Jeffery says:

Just revealed that trumpski’s Russian handlers/hackers planted fake news in the Qatari state news agency exacerbating the rift between US mideast allies.

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/06/politics/russian-hackers-planted-fake-news-qatar-crisis/index.html

The Qatari government has said a May 23 news report on its Qatar News Agency attributed false remarks to the nation’s ruler that appeared friendly to Iran and Israel and questioned whether President Donald Trump would last in office.

    Shit-for-brains trump stupidly tweeted:

“During my recent trip to the Middle East, I stated that there can no longer be funding of Radical Ideology, Leaders pointed to Qatar – look!”

“So good to see the Saudi Arabia visit with the King and 50 countries already paying off. They said they would take a hard line on funding extremism, and all reference was pointing to Qatar.”

The Qatari Al Udeid Air Base houses 11,000 US military – and US aircraft have used the base for over a decade. Our dumbass-in-chief just endangered 11,000 Americans. Did our moron-in-chief collude with the Russian hackers to engender this middle east diplomatic crisis?

      Jeff,
Let me reassure you that once again you have no idea what you are talking about. Will you at least try sometime?

    • drowningpuppies says:

      This is CNN.
Home of fake news and staged muzzie protests.

  10. Jeffery says:

    dave,

But no rebuttals? Your “president” is a piece of shit and needs to be gone. He’s harming America.

He is unfit for the job. His stupid twitterings are an embarrassment to this now foundering nation.

Please support his ouster – you will get a true conservative for president – a horrible man to be sure – but not crazy like trump.

    • We get it, Jeff. You don’t like Trump. He drives you into a state of apoplexy. Want to get rid of him? Put up a good candidate in 2020. There is no “he upsets me so we should impeach him” clause.

BTW, you would have derided anyone who talked about Obama in the way you talk about Trump. You know I’m correct.

  11. david7134 says:

    Jeff,
Why would I discuss something with a fool. You have more than demonstrated that quality. No one here takes you seriously or cares about your racist opinions.
