Rich, Pampered Athletes In Philly Plan On Protesting National Anthem

Because what we need is an inter-mixing of hardcore politics while we attempt to escape while watching sports

(NBC Sports) The first Sunday of the regular season coincided with the 15th anniversary of 9/11. And while there were still some demonstrations from NFL players during the national anthem, at least one team refrained on that day — but won’t in Week Two.

“Everybody wants to be a part of it and I feel like it’s no different on our team,” Eagles safetyMalcolm Jenkins told Glen Macnow of WIP in Philadelphia on Friday, via CSNPhilly.com. “We got guys, especially myself, who feel very strongly about the topic. Last week, we talked about doing some stuff, but we wanted to make sure we didn’t do anything to take away from the folks, the families, that suffered from 9-11. We didn’t want to mess with that day, so we left last week alone. But moving forward, I’m sure there will be guys that will probably join in.”

Jenkins said he possibly will be one of the players who participate in the demonstration.

“For me, it has nothing to do with this country or the flag or the anthem in itself,” Jenkins said. “Really, it’s just to continue to push for the conversation about social injustice. And that’s a range of things from police brutality to wages and job opportunities to education. It’s just a lot of things systematically that have been set up in this country, since its inception that really put minorities, especially African-Americans, at a disadvantage, when you’re talking about quality of life and actually growing in this country.

“So we want to continue to keep that conversation going and push it to as many people as we can. Obviously, while also doing our part in bringing forth change. And I think, obviously, this has been a hot topic and the more players that join in, the further this conversation goes. And I think after the initial shock of what happened and once everybody started to listen to what [Colin Kaepernick’s] message was, it’s become a really good conversation that’s going on nationwide. I think every player has an opinion and definitely wants to share, use their stage to do better.”

Well, I suppose if you plan on doing it in a Democratic Party run city that has degraded the lives of blacks via Democratic Party policies, well, OK, then. As the first comment at the article reads “8 years of “Hope and Change” and here we are at this.”

Malcolm Jenkins signed a 4 year, $35,000,000 contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, including a $7,500,000 signing bonus, $21,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $8,750,000. In 2016, Jenkins will earn a base salary of $2,500,000 and a signing bonus of $7,500,000. Jenkins has a cap hit of $5,666,668 while his dead money value is $17,666,668.

He should engage in social justice and give the majority away to black families in poverty. “Put your money where your mouth or demonstration is.”

Yes, the players have a 1st Amendment right to protest peaceably. Other people are also eligible to use their 1st Amendment Rights to complain about the players and their so-called protests. Most of the early ratings are down from 2015. Could this have anything to do with people tuning out from all the politicization? Yes, sports can be used for politics, but, do it in the right way. Jackie Robinson just went out and played.

(Proof Positive) If I were a millionaire sports star, I could think of any number of ways I could “start a conversation” about whatever was on my mind. After game interviews, take out a full page ad in the New York Times, hire a skywriter, set my Ferrari on fire in my driveway and let the press (and my insurance company) interview me!

But to publicly disrespect the flag, IMHO, crosses that line. I do not need to watch a demonstration of  the ignorance and gullibility of spoiled millionaire jocks, who believe things that simply aren’t true about the state of law enforcement in the country that provided them wealth, fame and boundless opportunities.

If the NFL doesn’t agree with me, fine! That’s their right. But if I refuse to watch any of their teams, or patronize any of their sponsors, or promote them in any way, that’s my right, too, which I will exercise until such time as I am satisfied that the NFL is not providing a platform for a poisonous form of dissent.

How many will tune out? I’ll be watching the games. And laughing at the pampered athletes who think they are Doing Something. It’s easy for them. What’s hard is putting their own money and time on the line. Will they do that? Perhaps they should look around and realize that black on black violence is quite a bit bigger than cops shooting criminals who are black and engaged in criminality.

So your answer to systemic oppression is for wealthy African-Americans to give away all their money. And you wonder why your blog is considered a white supremacist blog, LOL.

“For me, it has nothing to do with this country or the flag or the anthem in itself,” Jenkins said. “Really, it’s just to continue to push for the conversation about social injustice. Many white Americans think that life is good for African-Americans ’cause Oprah and Obama, but when African-Americans beg to differ, many white Americans feel put upon. When privilege is pointed out to the privileged, they feel discriminated against. It’s even worse for The Deplorables, those whites left behind by shifts in the economy, looking for someone to blame for the plight. Enter The Don with his anti-African-American background, his anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim and anti-Mexican rhetoric.

  2. Liam Thomas says:

    @Jeffery

Why the fuk hasnt your Democrats done anything about the poor.

Us white supremisists as you call us have taken care of the billionaires…I mean after all the only thing we care about on the right is billionaires…..So we have fixed them up….taken care of them….

So why havent you on the left taken care of the Blacks and the poor and the downtrodden……

Could it be your entire pitch is BULLSHIT…..a LIE based in half truths and misdirection…..

A lie that you will take care of them…..as long as you vote for us one more time…….A lie that blames everything on someone else…..A lie that life is hard so why try……just wait for that welfare check as you huddle in your high rise in the projects….listening to the black victimhood preachers…….

    LIKE YOU…..JEFFERY….the victimhood preacher…..

Sing it brother…..pitch that lie…..convince the blacks and the poor they will never get anywhere. That White people hate them….that their lives suck….and its all because of ME…Because I went to college. Because I had someone do my homework…..then I had someone take my tests, and do my interview…then when it was all done and said with….I was given a job and I made someone else do that job.

Sing it brother…..preach that victimhood to your perish….let em hear how worthless they are….how they will never amount to anything……

Because as a White man I want to help them….I want them to have a job, to feel good about themselves……

But no….not you…….you want them to have more handouts….more of my tax money….more of my work to fix their cronic victimhood.

You sing it brother….your a fine enabler…..You do a fine job.

  3. So your answer to systemic oppression..

Said systemic oppression mostly occurs in Democratic Run cities. Funny thing, eh?

And you wonder why your blog is considered a white supremacist blog, LOL.

Despite your obvious deflection, because all you can do is go after people personally, I’ll bite: who’s saying that? Not that I really care. It just shows that people are intellectually lazy.

  4. Jeffery says:

Why is there so much oppression in Red states with their Repub governors and Repub legislatures?

  5. Jeffery says:

It’s not to say that poor whites don’t have their grievances. Economic elites, both Dems and Repubs) have been rewarding the political donor class at the expense of the working classes. The economic result of the enacted policies has devastated the poor – both whites and Blacks.

Trump’s dishonest ploy is to blame Blacks and immigrants rather than his elite buddies.

And Trump’s “policy” prescriptions – tax cuts for the wealthy, more deregulation of Wall Street, deporting immigrants, and trade wars – will do little for his supporters. It’s almost as if some of his supporters are motivated by other than their purported economic grievances – and Trump is taking advantage of that.

  6. vladdy says:

Interesting what many black folks call a conversation. I’ve heard that term over and over for more than a decade now, and it has ALWAYS meant, “White folks, be quiet and listen while we insult you, and then agree with us.”

A REAL discussion, like where we discuss black privilege, black entitlement, black failure to achieve based upon “thug life,” black-on-black crime, baby daddies, the misuse and almost total destruction of understandable English, lack of basic skills due to disruption in schools, black entertainment consisting of graphic spoken and demonstrated sexuality…. well, you get the idea.

  7. Jeffery says:

    vlad,

No one is preventing you from voicing your racist beliefs. But don’t expect a free pass from others.

A REAL discussion is not a recitation of actual and imagined shortcomings of a racial minority, but also includes a REAL discussion of causes and solutions.

What is your list of African-American privileges and entitlements?

A large part of Trumpappeal is that his white followers don’t have to be quiet and take it! Finally the freedom to call a spade a spade out in the open.

  8. jl says:

“So your answer to systematic oppression is..” J again begins his argument with a false premise that there is systematic oppression. Sorry, but that has to be proved first, which of course you haven’t done.

  9. jl says:

And by the way, what exactly are these people protesting about as far as the National Anthem is concerned? A song about a flag that was still standing after a battle has what to do with all this?

  10. david7134 says:

    Jeff,
I will address the black privilege in the US, but first, I would like for you to remember that I went to school with David Duke (and no, that does not make me a racist or anything else). Duke would make speeches at the student union and so I heard first hand what his beliefs and ideas happened to be. I can assure you that with your comments and hatred that you are almost the exact same as old David. You see, Duke is a socialist and his attitude to blacks and others mirrors yours, as well as the two of you sharing an idea of knowing what is best for black people.

Now, as to privilege. I was a professor at a medical school for a few years and as such I was on committees to chose students and residents for higher placement. Any, black who made application, was accepted to a fellowship or resident position without any concern for any consideration of ability, grades or any other objective criteria used for screening any other race (Asian, white, Jewish, European, Indian, Russian). Any black with a C average and who showed up for the MCAT was accepted to medial school and was not allowed to fail.

Another responsibility that I had was quality assurance and in the capacity we had a black surgeon that was made head of his department due to NAACP pressure (his father marched with King). We had to review his activity monthly as he had a bad tendency to kill patients. Any other physician would have been fired, but we could not do that to this guy as, he was black and connected. I had dealings with him on the ward when he called me emergency to see a post-op patient who had a heart rate of 140 and no bp. I took one look at the patient and told him that the patient was bleeding to death. He was irate that I did not shock the man into a sinus rhythm as he insisted that his normal tachycardia (normal for shock) was the reason for the low bp. The patient died as he would not take him back to surgery. Turns out he left an artery open.

My son went to one of the better schools on the East coast and had a black room mate, along with 3 other room mates. This guy got a new computer when he desired. He received tutoring daily and he still managed to flunk out. None of the other room mates got that treatment.

My wife had things stolen from her when we were in school. She thought it was one of the black students. The dean agreed but said that since they were black that nothing could be done.

The fact is that blacks have been given a ton for the last 50 years and their behavior has been excused to the determent of those in the race. Affirmative action has been a horror for these people as they have degrees that do not carry the prestige that is afforded to other races. Obama is a classic example of affirmative action gone wild. He has been a terrible president but has received a pass due to his race.

The list goes on. Now, you go on about black people mostly because you claim to have hung out with a few hoods when young. But do you know anything at all about their lives. I do, I have lived among them and have treated them for over 40 years. I can assure you that they would think you to be a light weight. Have you done anything for the black community? I have. Besides charity medical care, I have mentored, given books, directed them to better schools and helped in any other way possible. I have never heard you claim to do a thing other than pay taxes and bitch.

Jeff, the people that are commenting on this board are not racist or supremacist, you are.

  11. Liam Thomas says:

As I surmised……NO SOLUTIONS….only whinny blame game as the VICTIMHOOD preacher throws half truths and half lies around like candy from a pinata.

Discussion? We dont have discussions…..its you calling us Rednecks and White supremicists and Elitists. Thats not much of a discussion….its what Sharpton and Jackson and all the black victimhood preachers are doing…….

NO SOLUTIONS….just blame game to keep themselves relevant.

Solutions render the left meaningless………Period. Thats why you’ll never see a solution from them about poverty. POVERTY IS THE ONLY POWER THEY WIELD. KEEP EM POOR and keep blaming those RACISTS on the right.

  12. Jeffery says:

    dave,

I find it hard to trust anything you type. You may have been making good points but then you claimed without evidence that President Obama is a classic example of affirmative action gone wild. Care to explain?

Would you agree that George W. Bush was an affirmative action Prez?

  13. David7134 says:

    Jeff,
You find anything hard to believe that does not fit in your dreamed up world. Obama has been a horror and it will require several decades to undo the damage. He has been given a pass by the media and congress. As to Bush, never had any use for him as he is a liberal. But the media let him have it for much less than Obama.

  14. drowningpuppies says:

The NFL will punish a player who makes a demonstration after the touchdown, but not one who makes a demonstration during the National Anthem.

How a real coach handles it.
    With class.

  15. Liam Thomas says:

Bush was not a liberal…..He was A neoconservative….as was Reagan who also was a democrat switched to republican.

Reagan is revered because his charisma and charm brought this country together after Vietnam….something Jimmy carter could not even fathom how to get done as he was to busy telling All Americans you suck because you are not progressives.

Regan increased government and spent us into a permanent mindset that deficits are okay. He spent that money on rebuilding the military rather then rebuilding the projects.

NOW….see here is what I have been railing at Jeffery about….why arent the Democrats rebuilding the projects like Reagan rebuilt the Military? The Right takes care of its own…….the left just leaves them begging for more only to blame the right for all the ills of the world….and the impoverished cling to the DEMS everyword….knowing OMG they could cut my welfare if I vote for a republican.

Ill say it again…..The RIGHT FIXES WHATS BROKE…if its bad enough….Right now Illegal immigration and our military is BROKEN….the right will fix it……The democrats wont lift a finger other then to march in the streets being paid by the billionaire agitator George Soros and then when its all blown over….BLM will be irrelevant, Blacks will still be dieing to cop bullets and the poor will still be poor.

Bush was a fair president with such a narrow focus that he would have never made a second term had it not be for the wars he was running…..Reagan was a Great president because the did one thing very, very well……he brought America back together again….we all became proud of being Americans again and this is why the left despises him.

  16. Jeffery says:

Although Reagan’s administrations were the most corrupt ever, my disdain was for policy reasons – massive tax cuts for the wealthy, tax increases on the working poor and the massive military spending. Reagan’s biggest successes were detente with the Russians and his nomination of Sandra Day O’Connor. We forget that the highest unemployment rate in modern history (10.8% in 1982; was over 10% for 10 months) occurred under his watch and was the result a deep recession engineered by Reagan and the Fed to control inflation.

It was the beginning of “voodoo” or “trickle-down” economics responsible, in part, for the income and wealth inequality that threatens this nation.

  17. Liam Thomas says:

    @Jeffery

Your funny. I understand you hating the military….It brought down your USSR bosses.

Let me start with I do not take issue with the fact that Under Reagan our government grew in size….It did under Bush too….That is what Neoconservativism is all about….It tends to combine the most important aspects of Liberal and Conservative and mesh them together….

    that being said:

We forget that the highest unemployment rate in modern history (10.8% in 1982; was over 10% for 10 months) occurred under his watch and was the result a deep recession engineered by Reagan and the Fed to control inflation.

YES….he had very high unemployment for 10 months…..Because of the Actions of the fed which triggered a recession because runaway inflation is much more terrifying then 11 percent of the people being out of work….In that scenario EVERYONE IS BROKE.

Carter cannot be blamed for the double-digit inflation that peaked on his watch, because inflation started growing in 1965 and snowballed for the next 15 years. To battle inflation, Carter appointed Paul Volcker as Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, who defeated it by putting the nation through an intentional recession.

What was the turning point and why 1965? LBJ started running DEFICITS TO FUND THE VIETNAM WAR.
    1974 first oil crisis.

    1979 second oil crisis.

Under Nixon and Ford they imposed price controls because inflation was starting to become a problem.

The economy endured a recession in the early 1980s, and unemployment hit double digits. The main reason, Sicilia said, was because the Federal Reserve chairman at the time was trying to squeeze inflation out of the economy. “They were concerned about unemployment, but they were more concerned about inflation,” Sicilia said. Unemployment fell from a high of 10.8 percent to 5.3 percent under Reagan. With unemployment low, George H.W. Bush became the first sitting vice president elected president in the modern age.

Jeffery your so busy hating on Reagan that you get your facts messed up.

TL/DR………Volker was nominated by Carter to fix the economy….He stayed around under Reagan….The FED IS an independent body that is not really accountable to any political group.
