Surprise: Joe Romm Says Climate Change Caused Brexit

Most Warmists have been Very Concerned with Brexit as it could derail their Big Government push with implementation of the Paris Climate accord. Now we get something even more fun

(Daily Caller) It only took four days after U.K. voters chose to leave the European Union for a liberal climate scientist and eco-activist to blame the whole event on — you guessed it — global warming.

Joe Romm, a climate scientist and writer for the liberal blog ThinkProgress, wrote an article Monday arguing the so-called “Brexit” and the rise of GOP candidate Donald Trump are driven by global warming.

“We’ve known for a while that there are scientific tipping points beyond which certain climate impacts — like the collapse of the West Antarctic ice sheet or the thawing of the carbon-rich permafrost — become unstoppable,” Romm wrote. “But it appears there may also be political tipping points, where certain climate impacts cause so much widespread harm simultaneously that they simply fragment the world.”

Here’s where it gets really good, and Romm makes his main “point”

Romm goes on to argue the Brexit movement was largely fueled by “scaremongering around the Syrian refugee crisis” — a crisis he says caused by global warming. Romm wrote:

The Syrian migrant crisis “had an outsized impact on the Brexit,” as NBC News political director Chuck Todd said Friday. You can see that in the pro-Brexit poster from the U.K. Independence Party (above) — which became a major advertising campaign of the referendum — featuring thousands of male refugees streaming from Croatia into Slovenia last October.

Warmists are, of course, blaming the Syrian migrant crisis on Hotcoldwetdry, rather than on things like a brutal strongman ruler, Islamic extremism and, well, that’s mostly it. And Joe keeps going and going and going, wrapping up with

Brexit and Trumpism make plainly — and painfully — visible that even rich, democratic nations deal poorly with a moderate amount of refugees, immigration, and economic dislocation. Imagine how we’ll deal with the 100-fold escalation of those problems if we fail to stop catastrophic climate change.

I’m not certain there is much middle ground in the global struggle between unity and disunity. Either the world works together to keep total warming well below 2°C — or our disunity leads to catastrophic warming and further global disunity not seen since the fall of the Tower of Babel.

Since the fall of the Tower of Babel!

    thawing of the carbon-rich permafrost

This is what horrifies the KNOWLEDGEABLE AGW proponents and one in which I have discussed here numerous times.

There is only XXX amount of CO2 sequestered on this planet….much of it….a great deal of it is buried under ICE. Receeding glaciers release this co2 because the underlying dead foilage can then aspirate their co2.

This Aspiration of co2 will cause a rapid increase in co2 which will lead to the next Ice age as the ocean sinks the co2, the North Atlantic warm currents stop and the earth enters a rapid acceleration to another Ice age.

Its been 18k years since the end of the last ice age….we are rapidly approaching the anticipated next ice age….because a warming planet ALWAYS RELEASES MORE CO2.

The paradox is that a warmer planet leads to the next ice age.

Probably global warming or the restroom policy for guys in dresses.
    A mystery…

Brexit is continuing to be a job killer and pound killer
Obama has kept the US dollar strong
Should we look back and see who was scaremongering about “runaway inflation”

  4. Hoagie says:

What you so naively call a job killer and pound killer is an economic adjustment after a major occurrence. Or did you foolishly believe that a major geopolitical shift would have no economic effect? The problem with you leftists is you believe economics is static. It is anything but.

Obama has nothing to do with the strength of the US dollar. Since when do Presidents determine dollar valuation or exchange rates?

You should look back and see who was “scaremongering” runaway inflation. Name names, give dates and show quotes. I’m curious. While you’re at it some research on how the top 1% grew enormously wealthier under Obama policies while the lower and middle class has taken a bath over the last 8 years. You could ask the 98 million non-working Americans how he’s done too. Or the 47 million on food stamps. They don’t call him president food-stamp for nothin’.

Surprise ! The 57% increase in hate crimes since Brexit is more proof of The Pause

  6. Hoagie says:

Surprise! The 57% increase in hate crimes is a lie. But you knew that, didn’t you? Or do you just parrot everything the left hand press feeds you like a good little soviet?

Economic collapse is a small price to pay for the right to not associate with “those” people.

  8. david7134 says:

Oh, no, Jeff has said that Britain left the EU because they are racist. And what definite proof, other than some idle speculation from a reliable source? And if they did, because they saw their society eroding due to immigrants taking over (similar to Rome in the 300’s) and is occurring in Texas and France. But we should never feel that we are put upon by people that should not be hear or who are not adding to our society. And leaving is going to be such an economic burden, why?? Especially as the EU is going down hill in the first place. Or maybe the English just want freedom and control of their lives and country, like those of us in the South.

Sorry, would you like to explain your statement?

    We’ll wait.

Pure democracy in action-the people, rather than their representatives, voted on a matter of importance to them. This shall not be, say the little fascists.

  11. Jl says:

John, have you checked to see the increase in the number of rapes in many of theses countries forced to accept these refugees? Though I’m sure the rape increase is due to “global warming” and not the refugees. Who for some reason happen to be mostly male.

Thanks, dave, for supporting my point.
