NY Daily News Laments Trump’s SC Win, Calls Him “Bloodthirsty”, Voters “Piggish”

There are lots and lots of interesting articles regarding what happened in South Carolina, and Nevada, Saturday. We learned that Jeb! Bush has “suspended” his campaign. Hillary just barely beat out Sanders. And, that the NY Daily News is unhinged

That’s the headline graphic from the front page of the fishwrap. The headline within the article is a bit different

Donald Trump wins South Carolina Republican presidential primary

But, the story itself is a masterful piece of disgusting invective (bold mine)

The piggish voters of South Carolina gobbled up the slop that Donald Trump served up Saturday — handing the bloodthirsty billionaire his second straight Republican presidential primary win.

Trump’s victory in the Palmetto State follows the orange-hued mogul’s first-place finish in New Hampshire and capped a dizzying stretch in which he called rivals liars, tangled with Pope Francis, and retold a discredited story about a U.S. general shooting Muslims with bullets dipped in pigs’ blood.

Just another typical week in the life of the candidate who can drop one outrageous bombshell after another and not lose a drop of momentum.

“There’s nothing easy about running for president, I can tell you. It’s tough, it’s mean, it’s nasty, it’s vicious … it’s beautiful,” Trump said in his victory speech.

And, Trump supporters are fanatics for daring to chant “USA USA”

Some chanted “USA! USA!” The fanatics snacked on cheese and crudité, and sipped beers from plastic cups.

Sipping beer from a plastic cup? Love of the USA? How gauche!

Nihad Awad, the Council on American-Islamic Relations national executive director, said Saturday in a statement that Trump’s “inflammatory rhetoric has crossed the line from spreading hatred to inciting violence.”

But the hate-filled campaign speeches only endeared Trump to South Carolina voters.

Cruz, who topped Trump in the Iowa caucuses, said that his was “the only campaign that has beaten and can beat Donald Trump.”

Yeah, wouldn’t want to incite violence against people who are violent themselves and have no problem in blowing up women and children.

How dare those piggish South Carolina voters give Trump a win!

Can Mr. Trump’s serendipitous Conservative Protestant Caucasian strategy work? He has alienated Blacks, progressive Protestants, Catholics, Jews, gays, Hispanics and Muslims. The outcome may depend on the Republican’s vaunted “Suppress the Vote” efforts.

This morning The Donald states he will win New York, take 25% of the Black vote in the largest turnout election in history and beat Hillary. He also said that his wife Melania will be very involved in his Presidency.

The Republicans need to wrap their heads around the concept of Trump as their nominee.

  2. david7134 says:

I wonder if the allusion to cheese and beer is a Hitlerism. Hitler was well known for giving cheese and beer to his audience. Why? The cheese makes you thirsty, the only relief is the beer, then you get a much better crowd.

Someone has gone on about alienation of people by Trump. The blacks in my area can’t wait to vote for him. As to Mexicans, wrong again, he caries about 50% as he is actually helping the average man.

  4. John says:

    The GOP owns Trump.
You must be so proud !
Trump is so bad that Dems are being accused of voting for him in the primary
Oh and Teach any comment on the Supremes decision concerning the racial gerrymandering of Congressional districts in your own adopted state NC?

  5. Dana says:

I wish that I could disagree with the invective against Mr Trump, but I just can’t: he is as much of a scumbag as Hillary Clinton, and is thoroughly dishonest.

Even loyal Republican RedState is questioning whether conservatives and Republicans will support Mr Trump in November if he is the party’s nominee.

  6. John says:

Teach any comment on Trump slandering Gen Pershing by accusing him of committing a war crime in the Phillipines?

  7. david7134 says:

    John,
I don’t know what specifically that you are referring to but the US in the Philippines is an area I would stay away from. That was not one of the better wars that the US fought and really was like the attacks on the South and American Indians, all war crimes.

    Dana,
At the end of the day, does the Republican party really have our back? I don’t think so and have grown to like Trump simply because the Republican leaders can’t stand him.

  8. Jeffery says:

Trump is trying to build a post-partisan coalition, but one hosted by the Republican Party. He believes he can attract independents and disaffected Dems, while retaining traditional Republican voters. He needs the far-right to secure the nomination, but not after. He’s not as stupid as he pretends to be – build a wall!, ban Muslims!, tariffs! – but he knows his audience. He’s playing the far-right the same way Senator Sanders is playing the far-left – free college!, single-payer!, Wall Street transaction tax!.

  9. gitarcarver says:

Teach any comment on Trump slandering Gen Pershing……..

john has real issues with facts.

In order to be slander, the person must know the comment was untrue. (The story with the shooting of terrorists does appear to have roots in fact, but it does not appear that Pershing himself was involved.)

Secondly, there must be damages. It is difficult to damage the reputation of someone who has been dead for almost 70 years, but facts never get in the way of john’s trolling.

  10. Dana says:

    Mr 7134 asked me:

At the end of the day, does the Republican party really have our back? I don’t think so and have grown to like Trump simply because the Republican leaders can’t stand him.

I can’t speak for “the Republican leaders,” but, for myself, I can’t stand him because:

    1 – he’s a lying scumbag out for nobody but himself;
    2 – he’s an out-and-out liberal on many issues, having changed his position on abortion once he decided to run for office, and his support for single-payer puts him to the left of Hillary Clinton;
    3 – he’s a sexist and racist pig; and
4 – he’s making promises that he knows he can’t keep.

If he is the Republican nominee, I anticipate voting third party.

  11. john says:

thanks for reading my post and also for the correction
GC how would YOU describe what Trump said about Gen Pershing ?

  12. john says:

well although it is not slander of course it is possible to damage the reputation of someone who is dead but again thanks for reading the post and making that correction !

  13. john says:

Well Dana it DOES look like he is going to be the nominee
David Incidentally it was in the P.I. that the USA prosecuted and convicted at least one office for waterboarding a quick google will show what Trump said about Gen Pershing committing war crimes in the P.I.

  14. gitarcarver says:

well although it is not slander….

So your statement was and is a lie?

of course it is possible to damage the reputation of someone who is dead

    Of course it is not.

For a reputation to be damaged, the person must be alive.

You might want to stop as the more you talk, the deeper the hole you dig for yourself.

Trump said about Gen Pershing committing war crimes…..

You just can’t help yourself can you? You just cannot help exposing your ignorance to the world.

Trump never said that Pershing had committed war crimes, so that is another lie from you.

Secondly, if the account / urban legend Trump spoke of was true, it was not illegal then nor illegal now under international law to summarily execute spies or terrorists. As the story Trump told was of the shooting of terrorists, there can not be a sustained charge of war crimes.

The only good news for you is that you can cure ignorance, and you won’t be slammed by Jeffery for your lies as he only hates alleged lies from conservatives. Lies from the left and liberals like you get a pass.

  15. david7134 says:

    John,
What is your point??? Pershing did shot people as described, so??? I agree that the US has done bad things, what is the point now??? As to your being in the Philippines, who cares??? How does that make you an expert in anything considering that you don’t read, you don’t understand what you read, and you have no logic? As to torture, lets get it on, if you read about counterinsurgency you will find that torture and being really nasty seems to get the job done, much better than hearts and flowers.

  16. Jeffery says:

But I corrected one of john’s posts just the other day. It’s no big deal. Everyone makes mistakes. But it’s mostly conservatives that are so insecure that they can’t admit their mistakes.

John said “slandering” instead of “vilifying”, “maligning” or “smearing” – and you call him a liar for that, but yet defend the odious jimhoft for spreading disinformation to right-wingers globally?

You attack an innocent remark to fill your empty life with another one of those semantic rolls in the slop you so love; yet defend the odious jimhoft for a clear lie. I expect to see no less than 10 emails from you on this topic.

    from Urban Legends:

Analysis: In June 2003 I (Urban Legends) consulted Dr. Frank E. Vandiver, professor of history at Texas A&M University and author of Black Jack: The Life and Times of John J. Pershing, and asked if there’s any truth (to the story). He replied via email that in his opinion the story is apocryphal.

“I never found any indication that it was true in extensive research on his Moro experiences,” Vandiver wrote. “This kind of thing would have run completely against his character.”

Similarly, I’ve been unable to find any evidence corroborating the more general claim that Muslims believe that “eating or touching a pig, its meat, its blood, etc., is to be instantly barred from paradise and doomed to hell.” It is true that Islamic dietary restrictions, like those of Judaism, forbid the eating or handling of pork because pigs are considered unclean. But according to Raeed Tayeh of the American Muslim Association in North America, the notion that a Muslim would be denied entrance to heaven for touching a pig is “ridiculous.” A statement from the Anti-Defamation League characterizes the claim as an “offensive caricature of Muslim beliefs.”

If, in your estimation, lining up and shooting 49 rebels to terrorize the remaining population is not considered a war crime, then the Nazis were probably not all that bad either. Or maybe, you’re making another of your legendary semantic arguments, since it wasn’t a declared war, but a revolt of the Moros after the US broke the Bates Treaty. No war; no war crime. Just acts of extreme brutality. But calling that a war crime is a LIE, dammit!

Gen. John J. Pershing was a Missouri boy, and on hunting trips we used to camp in the state park bearing his name, near his hometown, Laclede. Other than the odious jimhoft (St. Louis) and the fat tub-o-goo rush Limbaugh (Cape Girardeau) it’s hard to imagine a Missourian as cruel and heartless as the one depicted by the pig, Trump.

The pig Trump was just pandering to the far-right crowd, showing his disdain for Muslims, always a big hit with rural rednecks. He knows his audience.

  17. Jeffery says:

    dave,

Does torture work on white people too? Why not use torture to get confessions from accused child molesters, abusers, doctors suspected of fraud, and government contractors who might have fudged the numbers just a bit?

It’s nearly impossible to plumb the depths to which an American redneck will sink to satisfy his bloodlust.

Why not just drop a hydrogen bomb on Mecca and state that the next terrorist attack will destroy Medina, then Damascus, Baghdad, Tehran, Istanbul, Cairo, Kabul, Dearborn, Mogadishu, Islamabad, Dubai, etc until the pressure is so great that the terrorists will stop! Sure, sure we’ll murder 10s of millions of innocents (as if any Muslim is really innocent) including children, but you won’t have to wear a diaper at night any longer out of fear.

  18. gitarcarver says:

John said “slandering” instead of “vilifying”, “maligning” or “smearing” – and you call him a liar for that,…..

You really have issues with reading, don’t you?

My comment was the statement was a lie. If you want to extrapolate that out to where john is a liar, that’s on you.

Please don’t come in here trying to say that conservatives live with lies when it is actually you defending the lies of another liberal – and tour own lies..

but yet defend the odious jimhoft for spreading disinformation to right-wingers globally?

I don’t see where I defended what Hoft posted.

I did see and commented that he corrected his post and you condemned him for that. In other words, you think that even correcting something is still a lie which is as ridiculous and dumb as it gets.

I did say that you lied when you said he originated the idea that the shooter was “a progressive.” Your statement was and remains a lie on that issue.

But you won’t back off of your own lies because that is what you do.

Furthermore, you tried to defend john and his lie that Trump accused Pershing of “war crimes.” Of course, Trump never said that, but in order to defend the lie, you had to attack others.

You are still butt hurt that Hoft got tired of your crap and kicked you off his forum. That is really what this is about.
