Bummer: 4 In 10 Have Never Heard Of Climate Change

25+ years of “spreading awareness” and this is what we get

Climate change may be headline news in the United States but it still is barely registering in many parts of the world.

A new study on Monday in Nature Climate Change finds that 40 percent of adults worldwide aren’t aware of global warming. Using data from the 2007-2008 Gallup World Poll, conducted in 119 countries, the researchers found that the proportion of people who have never heard of global warming rises to 65 percent in developing countries like Egypt, Bangladesh and, even big greenhouse emitters, like India.

“This is after decades of scientific research, decades of media coverage, decades of international negotiations and it’s an issue on the agenda at big, geopolitic meetings,” he said.

They say this equates to about 2 billion people. So, big fail.

In all fairness, the study data isn’t exactly current, but it’s doubtful the needle has moved much. And, surely, the first thing that these new people ask is “OK, so, does that mean that everyone who believes in Hotcoldwetdry has given up their own use of fossil fuels and made their lives carbon neutral, as they now want me to do? What? They havent? Oh, they just want me to pay more taxes and restrict my use of AC, heating, energy, and cars, while restricting my life? Huh. ”

The sense of urgency increases when people understand that climate change is manmade. But other factors also play into that, including local temperature changes in parts of Asia and Africa, support for government mitigation efforts in the United States and, in China, concern rises with worsening air pollution.

Of course, in reality, there’s very little anthropogenic about it, no matter how many times Warmists say it. If it was, might they not change their own behavior and act like it’s a crisis?

Well, maybe more of them have heard of global warming.

But 10 out of 10 adults have heard of having to put food on the table and pay their bills, which might be why so many more Americans are concerned with that rather than whatever we are calling global warming today.

Bait and switch….had not the AGW crowd so wonderfully bait and switched pollution with Climate change the number of people who saying that climate change is a problem would plummet if they understood a couple facts.

    1. The AGW crowd considers co2 pollution and want to rid the world of fossil fuels with nothing to replace them…meaning the people dont get no more Ipads, Iphones, WII’s Nintendos, Internet…etc..etc…etc.

    2. The AGW crowd has gone way out of its way to scare the bejesus out of poor people making them terrified that the GOP is gonna not make enough life boats for them when they start drowning.

Hence if the real truth came out and the people took the time to really understand the bait and switch tactics by the AGW crowd…there would be about 15 percent of the world that thought climate change was a problem…….

Most everyone agrees pollution and littering is BAD………ergo……Global warming is pollution and littering….we have to fix it.

Steve Milloy is a paid advocate for both tobacco and oil companies. Yawn.

The Earth is warming from CO2 that humans are adding to the atmosphere.

The debate is around what, if anything, to do about it. That is the debate that Deniers wish to derail.

    Jeff,
There is a very simple video at Prager University that was put together by the founder of Greenpeace, I bet even you could understand it, completely blows your religion out of the water.

  6. Steve Milloy is a paid advocate for both tobacco and oil companies. Yawn.

Thanks for that deep insight, Jeff. You do realize he didn’t do the survey, right?

Will you complain about Hillary Clinton being a paid advocate for the abortion lobby?

Jeffery seriously go back to your OWN group…your own party….your own billionaires and do a couple things.

    1. WE DENIERS DO NOT CARE if you make a bazillion windmills and solar panels…..WE DO NOT CARE!

    2. Convince all of the groups ON YOUR SIDE…to STOP SUEING every windmill or solar panel or power plant that stores said power.

    3. Convince your group to stop suing every application for Nukalar power plants.

    4. Convince YOUR GROUP to stop suing everytime they devise a means to store nukalar waste.

    5. Convince George Soros to stop investing heavily into Brazilian Oil and you might get some of his money to compete against oil.

    6. Convince Warren Buffet and Bill Gates TO GET RID OF THEIR RAILROADS WHICH TRANSPORTS tremendous amounts of oil and natural gas…….AND COAL.

    7. Convince your group that TAXING FOSSIL FUELS ****WILL NOT**** stop people from using electricity, buying gasoline and manufacturing goods……however ****IT WILL**** make those goods ultimately MORE expensive thus hurting the poor and middle class who rely need these and have to make a choice……..heat…….or food.

8 Convince your group that Cap and Trade is nothing more then a scheme to tax big companies who will then just pass the tax on to the consumer.

    9. Convince your group that this is not the same thing as taxing cigarettes and making them so expensive people quit……..IT IS NOT THE SAME THING………..Cigarettes are not a national Security item…….Cigarettes do not power the world……..Cigarettes DO NOT GET YOU TO WORK, FEED the PLANET or otherwise drive the economies of the world.

Now if you can convince YOUR GROUP of these few things……there could actually be a lot done on ending dependence upon fossil fuels….however the only alternative ever put forth by YOUR GROUP…….is lawsuits and TAXES……..neither of which do anyone any good.

SO LET ME REPEAT…….the Deniers are all for alternatives….we have no reason what so ever to see fossil fuels making all the money………And once you guys agree to a strategy that would actually accomplish the production of alternatives then you would see the use of Fossil fuels begin to diminish…..which is your goal…….

Can’t make it any simpler then that…..of course their are operatives of the fossil fuel industry that will fight this…….but they are not the ones suing every windfarm and putting it on hold for a decade before it can be built…..YOUR SIDE IS DOING THAT.

  8. Dana says:

    Jeffrey gets it entirely wrong:

The Earth is warming from CO2 that humans are adding to the atmosphere.

That is the theory, but it is not a proven fact.

The debate is around what, if anything, to do about it. That is the debate that Deniers wish to derail.

No, absolutely not: we welcome a debate on what to do; it is the warmists who want to shut down debate and simply impose a “solution” or three.

Why do conservatives welcome a debate? It’s simple: it’s because we know that we will win! When it becomes a choice between a program which may or may not have some appreciable effect on the climate a hundred years from now, or keeping more of of our too-few-hard-earned dollars available for food and electricity and the necessities of life, today’s needs are going to outweigh something which might or might not make any difference next century.

  9. The debate is around what, if anything, to do about it.

Au contraire. The debate is prinarily about causation.

In fact, many of the “solutions” are things we can agree on. More “renewables” and types of energy.

But, if you want to make the debate about what, if anything, should be done about it, let’s have that convo, and we can discuss why you believers refuse to modify your own lives to accord with your professed beliefs.

  10. Jeffery says:

Teach: The debate is primarily about causation.

Au contraire. That’s a phony “debate” ginned by Deniers. The evidence supports AGW, period. The Deniers are sowing doubt where there is little.

In the real world, the actual discussion is about what to do, if anything. Deniers want to do nothing – climate realists advocate, and have for 2 decades, a market based approach first proposed by conservatives to bring the artificially low price of carbon-based fuels up to the true cost. In that way, the power of the marketplace, of entrepreneurship, of capitalism would lead to the natural use of energy sources other than fossil fuels.

Why do Deniers object to this simple and conservative approach? Several possible reasons. Denier leaders almost to a person make their living from fossil fuels. Many others just can’t imagine that something so seemingly innocent as burning oil and coal, releasing a colorless, odorless gas could threaten humanity. Many just object to anything proposed by anyone not part of their right-wing tribe.

  11. david7134 says:

    Jeff,
Conservatives did not propose carbon taxation. Maybe the leadership of the Republican party did, but they are the same as the Democrats and are just the same old brand of progressives. The reason the true conservatives oppose this stupid tax is that it will adversely effect the middle class and drive up the cost of everything, as in food, transportation, movement of goods, in fact any aspect of our existence. The end result will do nothing to alter in the least CO2 levels. As CO2 levels are not associated with any know problem, there is no reason to destroy the economy and the lives of the less fortunate. But your support of illegal aliens shows you really don’t give a flip about the welfare of these folks.

  12. david7134 says:

    Oh, Jeff,
I am a denier. I deny that the earth is flat. I deny that the sun orbits the earth. I deny that cholesterol has anything to do with any disease state, put that in to show what happened one of the time the idiot progressive, liberals got an idea in their heads. So, yes, conservative deny a bunch.

And here is where the left falls off the tracks. How anyone can believe that rising the prices of fossil fuels which RUNS THE WORLD….LITERALLY EVERY ASPECT OF THE WORLD……will benefit the poor and middle class is craziness.

Again it simply shows the agenda in place by the radical left which is the demise of Capitalism……

THERE IS NOTHING to replace fossil fuels for 90 percent of what it does….yes you can generate electricity but thats pretty much where it ends……everything else the world does runs of fossil fuels and if you crank up the prices of fossil fuels you will bankrupt entire nations let alone the poor and working class will make Soviet Era Communists look like rich folk and it will make third world nations look like Neandrathals in caves.

It simply will not work Jeff for the reason that the left is so fixated on the production of electricity that they fail to realize the strip mining needed (and NOT possible because no fossil fuels to run the earth movers) just to create a bazillion batteries for your uber expensive cars.
