People Totally Concerned About Offending Arrestees In Baltimore

Issues that are of Serious Concern. And by people being concerned, I mean those in the media and typical Social Justice Warriors, because most in the comments couldn’t care less about offending criminals

(WBALTV) The Baltimore City Police Department has launched an internal investigation after a WBAL-TV 11 News viewer shared four photographs of a sign inside a city police wagon.

The photos show the doors of the parked police van left open. On the inside of the back door is a sign, attached or possibly stenciled on, that reads: “Enjoy your ride, cuz we sure will!”

The sign’s placement makes it clear that this is a message for people who are arrested to see after they’re put in the back of the van and the doors are shut.

Police Department officials told 11 News the photos are real and they triggered an internal investigation.

The high mucky-mucks in the Baltimore PD are Very Concerned about offending people who’ve been arrested and are being transported to jail.

BTW, it’s doubtful the sign can be seen when the door is closed. It’s most likely intended to be seen by people who broke the law, were arrested, and about to be transported as they enter the van.

There used to be a saying “if you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.” Now it’s apparently “we worry about your feelings, hardened criminal.”

Another BTW, some are saying that the photo is altered. City Paper says that, to the best of their knowledge, it is real. But, the photographer, who refuses to be identified, hasn’t give up the originals as of yet. Personally, I see no reason to doubt the authenticity. Cops have a funny sense of humor.

A third BTW: one would think people would be more concerned with all the crimes and shootings in Baltimore. The BPD’s Twitter feed shows lots and lots of shootings.

likely intended to be seen by people who (MAY HAVE BROKEN) the law, were arrested, and about to be transported as they enter the van.

There, fixed it for ya. You’re welcome.

Right-wing authoritarian (RWA) followers always support the actions of authorities like the police. But it’s a fact that the police are not always right. Many arrestees are not charged. Fewer still are ever convicted.

You may not remember this because it happened so long ago, but an arrestee there named Freddie Gray died in one such van while being transported. His death was ruled a homicide.

In America, an arrestee has not been convicted, so is assumed to be innocent until proven guilty, and should not be subjected to torture or ridicule, regardless of how dark their skin may be.

How is that “fixed?” Is it your contention that the police wrote the message for non-lawbreakers?

Many arrestees are not charged. Fewer still are ever convicted.

    Your point?

Assume for a moment that you are stopped for speeding. You were doing 49 in a 45 mph zone. The cop lets you off with a warning. Did you break the law?

Just because one is not charged does not mean a law was not broken. Most people know that.

His death was ruled a homicide.

    Once again, your point?

In America, an arrestee has not been convicted, so is assumed to be innocent until proven guilty, and should not be subjected to torture or ridicule, regardless of how dark their skin may be.

Wow Jeffery, Are you that much of a racist to think that only non-whites ever get arrested? What does a sign in the back of a van have to do with the color of a person’s skin?

Never mind. We all know the answer to the first question: you don’t think.

  3. Jeffery says:

    How is that “fixed?”

As usual, you’re right. I should have said “corrected”. Thanks for the tip.

Not everyone who is arrested and placed in the vans have committed a crime.

The sign suggests that those being transported may be subject to some “fun” from the driver. Just ask Freddie Gray. Oh, you can’t. He’s dead.

In any event this suggests that people who have committed no crime, who will not be charged and will certainly not be found guilty can be punished without due process. Just ask Freddie Gray. Oh, you can’t. He’s dead.

Police are not judges and juries. They are not responsible for punishment of convicted criminals. They are supposed to arrest, detain and safely transport suspected lawbreakers to jail.

The vast majority have and you know it. Even so, you don’t think cops enjoy arresting criminals? Is that your ridiculous point?

    As usual, you don’t think.

Just ask Freddie Gray. Oh, you can’t. He’s dead.

We can ask the passenger who rode with Gray who said that Gray was trying to injure himself. But we all know that you won’t deal with any facts that are contrary to your views. Are you suggesting the Gray was killed by the police through some sort rough driving from the police?

They are supposed to arrest, detain and safely transport suspected lawbreakers to jail.

Agreed. The sign suggests that the police take great pride and enjoyment in transporting suspected lawbreakers to jail.

Do you have a problem with that?

So tell us why you think that only non-white people get arrested? Try explaining your racism, Jeffery.

    If you can.
