Great Pause Hits 18 Years 4 Months

Cue the Cult Of Climastrology excuses and avoidance. And something about the Navy. Here’s Christopher Monckton

Since December 1996 there has been no global warming at all (Fig. 1). This month’s RSS temperature – so far unaffected by the most persistent el Niño conditions of the present rather attenuated cycle – shows a new record length for the ever-Greater Pause: 18 years 4 months – and counting.

This result rather surprises me. I’d expected even a weak el Niño to have more effect that this, but it is always possible that the temperature increase that usually accompanies an el Niño will come through after a lag of four or five months. On the other hand, Roy Spencer, at his always-to-the-point blog (drroyspencer.com), says: “We are probably past the point of reaching a new peak temperature anomaly from the current El Niño, suggesting it was rather weak.” I shall defer to the expert, with pleasure. For if la Niña conditions begin to cool the oceans in time, there could be quite some lengthening of the Pause just in time for the Paris world-government summit in December.

Cue the screeching from Warmists about “cherry picking”, despite simply starting from today and working backwards. This in no way disproves that warming has occurred, nor that the Earth is currently deep within a typical Holocene warm period. The importance here is that it blows the notion that the warming is mostly/solely caused by Mankind. Hit the link to see the comparisons between the computer model projects and the reality. Interestingly, Warmists will Blame nature for the failure of the models, but will only blame Mankind for any warming.

  1. Mommas, teach your children to be glad they were born into a “typical Holocene warm period.” Beats the sh*t out of an Ice Age.

That’s great! According to a single calculated dataset, global warming stopped exactly 18 years and 4 months ago!

Unfortunately, real scientists take into account the totality of data, so they haven’t learned the creative methods of Load Monckton of Bitchley.

Let me play devil’s advocate for just a minute. When you start at the present and go back, how do you know when to stop? For example if you go back to 2008 and stop – warming. If you go back to 2000 and stop – warming. If you go back to the start of the RSS calculated method, that is 1979 – warming. So what determines when you stop? That’s rhetorical.

If you look at any other dataset, including the other calculated dataset, UAH maintained by so-called “skeptics” Spencer and Christy – warming. If you look at measurements using actual thermometers, e.g., GISS, NOAA, BEST and Hadcrut – warming. In fact, the only non-warming is RSS from 1997 to 2015! That, of course, explains everything.

Of course the denialists are writhing and shrieking like a demon splashed with Holy Water as they see their cult disappearing before their eyes.

The importance here is that it blows the notion that the warming is mostly/solely caused by Mankind.

How so? Let’s roll the tape. The surface is warming. The oceans are warming. The ice is melting. The seas are rising. All predicted. Is CO2 the ONLY component determining the average global surface temperature? Of course not.

What do we know about what causes the Earth to warm?

    1. Greenhouse effect – Greenhouse gases trap the heat from the Sun in the atmosphere, surface and seas.

    2. Dark surfaces absorb more and reflect less incoming solar radiation.

    3. Light surfaces, e.g., ice, clouds reflect more.

    4. Atmospheric aerosols e.g., from volcanoes, human activity reflect more.

    5. Heat transfers back and forth between the oceans and atmosphere, e.g., El Nino, La Nina, PDO etc.

    6. The total irradiation from the Sun can change. More makes it warmer, less makes it cooler.

    7. When ice melts it pulls heat from the environment.

When the input into the system matches the heat lost into space, the temperature stays constant. If you slow the loss into space, e.g., greenhouse effect, one gets a warmer Earth.

Based on your newfound knowledge, do you understand how glacial and interglacial periods can be self-sustaining? An icy planet reflects more of the Sun’s radiation back into space, reinforcing the cold. A warming planet with less ice absorbs more radiation, reinforcing the warmth.

The idea of a “typical Holocene warm period” is totally made up.

In a few hundred years or so we’ll be out of the Holocene! What will our descendants name the new warming period? The Androcene, if they are kind to our memory. The Idiocene? The Assholocene? The Fricassene? The Whatthefuckwerethoseselfishbastardsthinkingocene?

Do you believe in the Church of Monckton?
Do you believe that his quack medical remedy cures HIV MS and yes the common cold ?
Do you believe that their is a gigantic worldwide CONSPIRACY that only a few are able to see ?
perhaps this has something to do with your recent name calling about “cults”
    The True Church hates “cults”
