Glenn Beck Is Sounding Quite A Bit Like Democrats

Don’t misunderstand: I like Glenn Beck, and will continue to listen in the a.m. Which I’ll do in about an hour when I head to the gym. His preaching does get a bit tiresome to me. This, though, is off the hook

I don’t think we’re going to be able to solve anything if we don’t stop yelling at each other and if we don’t stop accusing each other of hatred and racism. I really fear that we are on the edge of losing our country through this division if we don’t find ways to say, look, we all love the children, we all feel the same way…

There are a lot of people that are very upset because they think I’m going to be encouraging people to come here and that’s not true. It’s evil what’s happening to the children all the way around and then to have them being used for political purposes. I don’t care if it’s the left or the right that’s doing it. It is wrong, it is shameful, it’s un-American and it’s not the Christian thing to do.

One point I haven’t seen addressed in the hubbub over his charity effort is whether he’s planning the upcoming shipment of supplies as a one-time show of goodwill or as an ongoing mission of mercy to the border, with shipments at regular intervals. If it’s the latter, I hope he knows what he’s getting into. Anecdotal reports suggest there are a lot of kids who’ll soon be needing teddy bears and soccer balls.

Allahpundit notes what Ruben Navarrette has to say about the kids coming

My sources tell me that it is well-known that in the Rio Grande Valley, there are tens or even hundreds of thousands of people from Central America — mostly women and children — in northern Mexico right now, waiting for their chance to cross into the United States.

We should stop looking for an endpoint. This story has no end in sight.

Beck is entitled to his opinion, but to plat the un-American and un-Christian card is below pathetic. He has a good heart, and I applaud him for providing relief for the kids. It should also be noted that Beck has specifically stated multiple times (I’ve heard him say it live multiple times) that the kids should be repatriated, and we need to deal with the conditions that cause the children to come. The very fact is that this is a political issue, whether he wants it to be or not. It is not un-American nor un-Christian. But, it does sound much like something Democrats would say. A smattering of headlines

Beck is creating the same kind of guilt. Again, I applaud him for putting his conscience on the line, but he might be better served by no insulting people. Oh, and taking care of the illegals across the border as the tens of thousands line up in Mexico for a shot at being undocumented in America on their way to being entitled. Beck should consider that his smears are, in fact, political themselves. And people who throw stones…

I’m not surprised by Beck’s liberal leanings he showed that pretty clear in the last presidential as for immigration he’s a Rubio lover so that’s not a surprise either. This is why it’s hard to have real political hero’s in today’s world those we want to support seem more confused about what should be common sense than a school child would have been in years past. It’s just not that complicated. You don’t have to be lawless to be compassionate and you can be compassionate while applying the law.

What you have to remember is that the “Christian thing to do” was to stand in front of a lion and let him eat you. That is pretty much what this clown is advocating. Obama and the communist have clearly destroyed the ability to determine issues and resolutions through the legitimate channels. The voting process is gone as we saw in Mississippi. The great majority of the country is conservative, limited government, yet we are treated as if we are a scourge and a minority. People are desiring solutions to the take over of our government and all they get is people complaining and bellyaching like Glen does. Plus, Glen is a Lincoln fan and thus a big government person.

So kindness and sympathy for others, even for 0.1% of your time, is enough to get you kicked out of the Conservative cult.

    Interesting.

I don’t trust Beck. I see him as a self-promoting, self-rightous, profiteering, bombast. I think Palin is much the same way. They are similar to Reverend Ike, but not nearly as honest.

Neither the Republican or the Democrat leadrship is responsible on this issue.
Bush and Reagon both contributed to the mess.

I agree with the first two commenters. There are simple, ethical, lawful and effective ways to deal with the uncontrolled flood of claim jumpers. The first of these is some real border control.

I personally have no problem giving work visas to many seasonal workers, getting them documented, identified, and in the tax system. However configured, the permit system must be able to keep the workers and employers accountable. No slavery by another name and no invasion of criminals. I would give them driver permits if they passed the tests, payed the fees and purchased insurance. No voting and no running for office.

If they want to become citizens, make them wait a while, like every other country does, have them prove their loyalty in some manner and have them pass the usual series of tests. Like learning the language. I also favor citizenship to those who serve honorably in the military or merchant marine or through some other significant public service.

All of the other countries of the world control their borders. Many do so with the liberal application of force. Like Mexico. It’s time America grew up and put together a rational, consistent immigration plan.
