Bundle Up: Record Breaking Global Warming Cold On The Way

Following on the heels of 1,000 new cold records set around Thanksgiving, and 2,000 cold and snow records during the early part of December, and yet another big snowstorm hitting the North East, and a big blast of cold on Thursday through Friday, well, “climate change” will do its thing again, all because you, yes, you who are reading this, all because you drove a fossil fueled vehicle and refused to turn the heat down a few degrees and put greenhouse gases in the atmosphere

(Fox News) As much of the country digs out from a powerful winter storm that buried parts of the Northeast, tundra-like temperatures are poised to deliver a rare and potentially dangerous blow to the Midwest, with forecasters predicting a near-record or historic cold outbreak.

The “polar vortex,” as one meteorologist calls it, is expected to send cold air piled up at the North Pole down to the U.S., funneling it as far south as the Gulf Coast and driving temperatures below freezing for most of the nation.

Forecasters expect a weekend warm-up in some areas before temperatures plunge again, sending wind chill temperatures in areas in North Dakota and Minnesota to minus 50 degrees by Saturday night.

Those states are notorious for their cold winters, but states in the Mid-Atlantic and New England can also expect wind chill temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees.

WRAL here in Raleigh is calling for a high of 24F on Tuesday. The normal high is 49F. In Minnesota they have cancelled school for Monday for the first time in 17 years. In Wisconsin, schools in Milwaukee and Madison are also cancelled for Monday, and you can bet that other school systems will follow along. A meteorologist called the temperatures “life-threatening”.

Green Bay, Wisconsin, set a new low record of -18F, beating the previous of -17 set in 1979. That year was only a few years removed from Climatologists wondering if a new ice age was coming. The game between Green Bay and San Francisco may be the coldest game ever played.

There’s also another big blast of global warming created snow on the way, hitting the Midwest, though it is projected to be mostly a rain event when it makes it to the East coast.

What Warmists will tell you is that this is fully backed by the “theory” of “climate change”, where the super crazy melting Arctic is melting and sending that melted cold ice on a southern route in the form of cold and snow. Because, let’s face it, these people are delusional and should be put on a regimen of Thorazine, Valium, and, really, they should bring back Quaaludes.

PS: Just as always, neither cold weather, snow, or cold winters/seasons proves the Earth is entering a cooling period of any strength. Nor does it disprove it. Nor does it mean the Earth won’t further warm. It simply highlights that a) the natural forces of the Earth do what they want, and b) that man-induced climate change is mule fritters, because they claimed, using their computer models and wishful thinking, that this shouldn’t happen. Until it did, then they had to scramble for an excuse.

I am having a hard time understanding how global warming is causing record breaking cold temperatures… What gives, it makes no sense to me, but admittedly, I am not a climatologist either, just an average layman freezing my small bits off…

  2. Jeffery says:

Cold air in January over 1% of the Earths surface means climate change is refuted! No wonder there were so few pirate scientists. Arrrrr!

  3. jl says:

One strong hurricane hits the U.S. (oh, wait- there hasn’t been one above cat3 in many years)means climate change is affirmed! Of course, no one is “refuting” climate change, professor J, just the causes of it. But you knew that, now didn’t you? And “number of scientists” is, of course, totally irrelevant. But you knew that, also. But nice try.

  4. Jeffery says:

jl – I do understand your obsession with the US, after all – it’s where we live – but it makes up only 2% of the surface area of the Earth. Thanks for admitting that the Earth is warming – deniers denied it for years until they came up with another ploy – it’s all natural (it’s magic)! Once you finally admit that it’s from CO2 (and you will eventually, since it’s as obviously true as the warming itself), your next ploy will be to stamp your feet and proclaim there is nothing we can do about it short of returning to stone age living conditions! This is already happening with some of your ilk but will be widely accepted within your ranks within a few years.

Our Earth warms and cools because of imbalances in heat in and out, and now it’s warming because of high concentrations of CO2 in the atmosphere from man’s burning of fossil fuels.

In the meantime the pirate and others will continue to claim that the Earth warms and cools by magic rather than by understandable physical laws.

Physics can be a cruel and heartless boss.

    Hi Matthew,

You’ve asked a very reasonable question. It is certainly counterintuitive that something called “global warming” can be responsible for record lows in some regions. The answer most likely results from changes in the seasonal locations of the jet streams that drive much of our weather. There is scientific debate about the causes of this shift in the jet streams. Most climate scientists consider the hypothesis that the rapidly warming arctic region has changed the jet streams to be reasonable but unproven. A recent layman summary is attached and will also direct you to other more in depth work:

And here is a lonnnng explanation of the relationship between the jet streams and weather elements:

Now Jeffery, don’t get you panties in a bunch and say all those things you know aren’t true. No, I don’t believe the earth is warming-not by man, anyway. And the only thing CO2 is doing is helping to sustain life here on earth. And the Pirate doesn’t believe in magic, just facts. But I do smell climate astrologer desperation in the air, no doubt due to all the bad news lately- you know, things not going the way you “predicted” it would. Bad news is a cruel and heartless boss, isn’t it?

  7. Jeffery says:

    jl,

Are all right wing extremists like you? It’s like stumbling on a lost tribe of Borneo or something. Cause stoopid.

And tell your boyfriend to stop sending me his panties. It’s gross.

  8. jl says:

J- Was that supposed to be a rebuttal (it wasn’t)? Or another drama queen rant? I’ll vote for the later.
