DOD Deems People Who Talk About Individual Freedom, Making World Better Place As “Extremists”

Have you ever dressed as a Founding Father? Well, you’re an extremist, as are the Founding Fathers, per Department of Defense training material

(The Blaze) U.S. Department of Defense education materials obtained by Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group, warn of “extremists” that will “talk of individual liberties, states’ rights, and how to make the world a better place.” Judicial Watch and other conservative media outlets claim the disclosure indicates the department is teaching that conservative views are “extremist” in nature.

The guide is reportedly authored by the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, a Defense Department-funded diversity training center. Further, the documents cite the left-leaning Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) when identifying “hate groups.”

If the SPLC is involved, you know that all right leaning people are considered haters. Muslim extremists? Never. Some highlights from Judicial Watch

  • The document defines extremists as “a person who advocates the use of force or violence; advocates supremacist causes based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or national origin; or otherwise engages to illegally deprive individuals or groups of their civil rights.” (so, any State in the South that passes voter ID laws is now extremist, and if you’re against illegal immigrants? Extremist)
  • A statement that “Nowadays, instead of dressing in sheets or publicly espousing hate messages, many extremists will talk of individual liberties, states’ rights, and how to make the world a better place.”
  • “[W]hile not all extremist groups are hate groups, all hate groups are extremist groups.”
  • Under a section labeled “Extremist Ideologies” the document states, “In U.S. history, there are many examples of extremist ideologies and movements. The colonists who sought to free themselves from British rule and the Confederate states who sought to secede from the Northern states are just two examples.” (Founding Fathers considered extremists)
  • In this same section, the document lists the 9/11 attack under a category of “Historical events.”
  • Other than a mention of 9/11 and the Sudan, there is no discussion of Islamic extremism. (who’s surprised?)

While the document could certainly extrapolate certain Muslim and left leaning groups as “extremists”, the object, and focus, was to brand virtually all people on the right as extremists. The better to build a case for federal spying on the groups and individuals, and perhaps banning them.

The documents is supposedly only supposed to be used for “training purposes” but no one is supposed to use the material “on the job”. Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton had this to say

“The Obama administration has a nasty habit of equating basic conservative values with terrorism.”

“And now, in a document full of claptrap, its Defense Department suggests that the Founding Fathers, and many conservative Americans, would not be welcome in today’s military,” he added. “And it is striking that some the language in this new document echoes the IRS targeting language of conservative and Tea Party investigations. After reviewing this document, one can’t help but worry for the future and morale of our nation’s armed forces.”

What you have is yet another attempt to turn a government institution into one that follows far left doctrine. At one point the Left was trying to destroy the US military, particularly through denigrating it and defunding it. Now they are attempting to infiltrate it. They already have a good chunk of the federal (and state) bureaucracy. They control the public sector unions. They also control the media and teacher’s unions. What if the military is turned into just another branch of the Democrat Party?

‘they” are always the bad guys, aren’t they Teach? The right wing abandoned teaching because it did not pay well enough. The right wing abandoned state and federal workforce when the economy was doing well and private jobs paid more.
Why don’t YOU quit your job and fight back against this “leftist” threat?
The right wing is always ready to blame the left, but never wants to take a look at their own actions. As far as the military, as I have said before, in 2012 Fox Exit Polls showed that the younger vet voters preferred Obama to Romney. These were the most recently discharged who knew most about Iraq and Afghanistan.
“Leftist” now seems to also be the new code word for “liberal Jews” Why not just say it Teach

John say the right blames the left for everything is more than the pot calling the kettle black. It is simply more hypocrisy from the left on display.

As for the poll john references, that was a one time poll and by election time, Romney had a lead in younger vets.

When you think that since that poll has been taken Obama has cut Tricate Prime, ravaged the VA, cut vet’s benefits, lessened opportunities in the military, cut funding, etc, the numbers for Obama on the military are much worse now as Obama’s promises to vets have been exposed as lies.

The SLPC is a hate group. Anyone who listens to them is a racist bigot who despises everything this nation was founded upon.

When your government declares vast numbers of your citizens enemies of the state, then you know your safety is not a right. Your right to live is not assured. Your right to be free from seizure and detention is not assured.

When your gov’t denies the constitution and its laws, then the gov’t is the evil root of the problem.
