Panetta Claims Obama Absent Night Of Benghazi Attacks

Just to be clear, the absence is from Panetta’s point of view. Which was, you know, the POV of the Secretary of Defense

(Weekly Standard) Defense Secretary Leon Panetta testified this morning on Capitol Hill that President Barack Obama was absent the night four Americans were murdered in Benghazi on September 11, 2012:

Panetta said, though he did meet with Obama at a 5 o’clock prescheduled gathering, the president left operational details, including knowledge of what resources were available to help the Americans under siege, “up to us.”

In fact, Panetta says that the night of 9/11, he did not communicate with a single person at the White House. The attack resulted in the deaths of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens.

Obama did not call or communicate in anyway with the defense secretary that night. There were no calls about what was going on in Benghazi. He never called to check-in.

Gee, one would think that the POTUS and the SecDef would actually communicate now and then regarding what measures could be taken to rescue Americans who were under assault from violent Islamists, alas, apparently not. Yet, Obama took time during the crisis to call Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu over a non-critical issue. Furthermore

And both Panetta and Dempsey admitted in today’s hearing that they were not in touch with Clinton at all the evening of 9/11. “[W]e never received a request for support from the State Department,” Dempsey said, explaining why the American military had not made any attempt to save the endangered Americans.

Panetta did what he could to try to shield Obama, but overall the transcript shows that Obama was absent regarding contact with the SecDef. And Panetta said the same thing while being questioned by Kelly Ayotte, as well. Panetta ordered the deployment of some forces to areas around the Mediterranean, but was never asked to use those forces. Because POTUS Obama was MIA while our citizens were being assaulted.

Obama wasn’t in contact or available?

    Gee, how could anyone tell?

I have said for a long time that Obama is an empty suit who cannot lead. This is just another example of that lack of leadership.

  2. He probably figured that someone had it and was in charge, forgetting that the ultimate responsibility lies with himself as POTUS. He surely made a Pronouncement, figuring it would be handled, because he doesn’t understand the business phrase “inspect what you expect”.

Teach he left it up to the SOD and the Joint Chiefs ? I don’t have any problem with that, he isn’t supposed to micromanage

Being kept in the loop and being available to make decisions when the lives of Americans are at stake is not “micromanaging,” john.

This is the kind of crap you put out once in awhile (well, all the time) that demonstrates what a twit you really are. You had Americans under attack and the President was deliberately avoiding the situation.

When the chips were in play, when Americans were at risk, this President did nothing.

You seem happy with that, which is fine but it shows how little you value the lives of the people that were killed, the lies this administration told about the attack and the lack of leadership from this empty suit of a man.

    Shame on you.

Why does John Brennan do what he does relating to Islam and giving them preferences, deleting certain Muslim words and ideologies of Islam from training manuals and all around supporting Islam? The answer:

Its time to fire Panetta and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. It is time to impeach Obama.

This is a complete and utter travesty and disregard for American human lives. They allowed people to be attacked and murdered by rampaging thugs. They sat back, knowing what was going on, and did nothing.

And the fact that the so-called REpubs are allowing these people to get away with murder, including the murder of our Border Guards, is a complete travesty of all known justice as well.
