Does anyone think they do this due to any employees of the Jewish faith? Not likely. Rarely do you hear Jews complain. They tolerate. This is simply enforcing Sharia law on employees who aren’t Muslim. Possibly out of fear, possibly out of simple dhimmitude.
I wonder when England will ban dogs on the streets?

I wouldn’t deliberately eat pork in front of my Jewish co-workers out of respect; as for the other religion which forbids pork, I’d eat it simply because they demand I not eat it in their presence.

The funny thing is, Nate, it’s no problem to eat non-kosher in front of Jews, which points to a couple of major differences between Judaism and Islam. In Judaism, the God-given rule is: “don’t eat pork (because God said so).” Using pork by-products (for example, boar hair for making brushes), raising pigs, etc. is really okay (although Orthodox Jews would tend to shun those things). For Muslims, anything to do with pork is haram, and thus forbidden in all its aspects. No piggy banks, no stuffed piggie toys, no raising of pigs to sell to non-Muslims.
The other big difference in the two religions is that in Judaism, a person is expected to internalize the rules and follow them as an individual. Muslim culture (at least in its initial Arab form) is an honor-shame culture in which everyone keeps an eye on each other’s moral status. It’s much more important not to give the appearance of doing anything wrong; sometimes a person can get away with something if no one has seen him.
Mind, these are not hard and fast attitudes; there is a lot of variations in both cultures, but it still explains a lot as to why Jews would not be offended if someone ate a ham sandwich in front of him.
Where I work, muslims must abstain from pork and the vietnamese consider it a food group, so there is proper diversity. Muslims can be detected by noting who asks what the meat is at the cafeteria. There is a non-pork option everyday and a fish option on Fridays for the catholics.

Unfortunately, the “option” is not an option for real believers. They must force others to capitulate, else they are not allowed to live.
I’ve e-mailed these guys to see if this is really true or something someone made up. So far I’ve been told “Your e-mail has been routed to the appropriate department.” So we’ll see.
