Palin’s Email Show A “Long Lost Palin” – Cue The PDS

First off, The Politico tells us there are “no bombshells in the Palin emails.” Unless we consider that these same liberals who are chomping at the bit to desperately find something within the emails have managed to put out enormous amounts of CO2 and killed lots of trees to print the 24,000 pages of innocuous emails. Bad Climahysterics! Bad! No biscuit! Anyhow, we’re pretty much used to the MSM mixing opinion with straight news, but, sheesh, this lead story “Long-lost Sarah Palin surfaces in emails” by Molly Ball really takes the cake, and shows just how scared the liberal media, and wishy washy Republicans, are of her

Once, there was a different Sarah Palin.

She was hands-on and averse to partisan politics. She championed openness in government and had normal relations with the media. She was a little starstruck by her interactions with national politicians but unafraid to do battle with the chief executives of the world’s largest oil companies.

That was one of the things we loved about her. Many of us were starting to pay attention to her long before McCain picked her as his running mate, and we were thrilled. Let’s continue

The emails from her governorship released Friday brought back the memory of a long-lost Palin: the popular, charismatic, competent woman of the people.

This was the vice presidential candidate John McCain’s team thought they were getting, before her darker tendencies — defensiveness, thin skin, grudge-keeping — hardened into tics. Together with the newly released, pro-Palin documentary “The Undefeated,” which focuses on her rise to the spotlight, the emails are reminders of a sympathetic figure who was not yet the brittle, divisive caricature Palin has now become.

As Mesquito writes in the comments for the story

Good heavens. Are you saying Palin has changed since the entire Political Class rose up as one and tried to destroy her?

Bingo! The Left despises her, because she is a strong woman with conservative leanings (she’s not perfect: I have always had questions about some of her actions regarding illegal immigration, and her climate change (hoax) stance), and we all know the Left’s true misogynistic tendencies come out easily. And they needed someone to hate with Bush leaving office. And the wishy washy Republicans hate her because she isn’t toeing the Party line, because she dares to speak her mind, because she talks in a normal manner, without all the political double speak, and does it in a folksy manner, rather than sounding like a liberal Harvard professor. Rarely does either group discuss policy, mostly it is just personal slurs, as their Palin Derangement Syndrome attacks their cognitive abilities.

But, really, how dare Palin become defensive when people are attacking her family, attacking her Downs Syndrome child, making up things about her family, engaging in Triggerism, and looking for ways to personally destroy her? Of course, “thin skin” and “grudge-keeping” means that Palin has refused to take any sh*t from the Left, from Obama, and, more importantly to Molly Ball, the media. Palin is playing the game by her own rules, and the media does. Not. Like. It.

The seeds of the paranoia and belligerence that so prominently mark her current public persona are visible in early form. The chip is already firmly on Palin’s shoulder: “‘They’ said the same thing throughout my career- ‘too young’, ‘pregnant’, ‘kids’… ‘She won’t be able to do it’… This coming from good ol’ boys who don’t like change. And so far along in my career we’ve proved them wrong at each turn,” she writes in March 2008.

If she were a Democrat, she’d be called “courageous” and “hard-charging.”

Personally, I think this whole investigative line could end up backfiring on the Palin Haters: Americans tend not to like citizens being abused by the media, and people will see that for all this Palin attention, there is no scandal in the emails. And all this attention raises her stature, and will cause people to pay attention to Palin’s actual policy stances. As John at Powerline writes, this is another embarrassment for the legacy media.

Now, we await the media to spend 1/8th the time investigating Obama’s record…..

This is a display of the Left’s desperation.

The political elite’s worst fear is becoming reality: Sarah Palin is who she says she is.
