Good News! EPA Climate Alarmist Rules To Cost 800,000 Jobs

So says an Environmental And Public Works minority report, due to come out today, which Ed Morrissey got a sneak peak at

The executive summary spells out the stakes involved in the effort to rein in the EPA:

  • New standards for commercial and industrial boilers: up to 798,250 jobs at risk;
  • The revised National Ambient Air Quality Standard for ozone: severe restrictions on job creation and business expansion in hundreds of counties nationwide.
  • New standards for Portland Cement plants: up to 18 cement plants at risk of shutting down, threatening nearly 1,800 direct jobs and 9,000 indirect jobs;
  • The Endangerment Finding/Tailoring Rules for Greenhouse Gas Emissions: higher energy costs; jobs moving overseas; severe economic impacts on the poor, the elderly, minorities, and those on fixed incomes; 6.1 million sources subject to EPA control and regulation; and
  • Well, that sounds great, doesn’t it? Of course, these will all be replace with “Green” jobs, right? Um, not so fast

    …in continually touting green jobs too often we’ve unwittingly set up an opposition and point of conflict that doesn’t need to be there. In fact it creates an entry to a conflict that is at least partially fictional. It also opens the door to asking “where are all the green jobs” and pointless debate about whether or not a particular job is really a green job or not–though it is true that some jobs are greener than others. Furthermore, it subtly reinforce the perception, incorrect as it may be, that the environmental movement wants to take over the country.

    The actual quote comes from…….Treehugger! So-called green jobs cost 2 jobs for everyone created, and are enormously expensive.

    On the bright side, if when Republicans regain the House

    …one senior GOP lawmaker has another idea in mind: sweet revenge.

    Wisconsin Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner wants to keep the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming alive so it can investigate climate science and police President Barack Obama’s green policies.

    And well they should. The real facts and real science should be highlighted for all to see. Government destruction of the private sector for “climate change” should be halted, and replaced with real world, wise, feasible rules that can stimulate protection of the environment and clean energy, without all the globull warming idiocy.

      Yes, but those jobs were giving the planet a fever, so it’s okay.

      Sorry, channeling Algore there for a minute.

    2. David says:

      How about the Republicans holding the funding for the EPA?

      That “minority report” comes straight out of the brilliant science mind of the senior senator from OK. Sen Inhofe also believe that the Earth is only 6000 years old, that Noah put a pair of T -Rex into his Ark in 2304 BC, and that all civilization was wiped out by that flood. If/When the GOP does regain the house will this Biblical science be taught in schools ?

      And also Duke University says that now for the first time solar generated electricity is cheaper than nuclear generate electricity. Even without government subsidies ( which the nukes also get) solar will be cheaper within a decade Fossil IS still the cheapest but some “skeptics” believe that the cost of oil may go up in the next decade

    5. David says:

      john!!!
      you finally said something that makes sense! I totally agree with you that politicans should not be making educational policy. So lets get rid of the Education Department! That was a great observation. Imagine the effect on the budget to get rid of a cabinent level position and the influence of the teacher’s union.

      And yes, solar will be cheaper. That is because O is working night and day to kill any other fuel source. As well as the economy and jobs and everything else.

      So since you obviously agree with him on this subject, you must agree with him on the age of the earth, right?

      OMG.. I just got a tingle up my leg for Wisconsin Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner !!!! Except I want him to not just police the obama policies, but to OVERTURN THEM!! Plus many of Pres Bush’s too.

      David, I agree. If the EPA makes these new regulations regarding CO2 or greenhouse gas controls, the Congress should step in and Hold their funding because obviously EPA overstepped Congress’ authority.

      John, are you saying that Christians are so blinded and biased by their faith that they can’t be in Congress or in any position of political power?
