Top 15 Movie Rock Songs

Just rock. In no particular order:

Van Halen – Everybody Wants Some – Better Off Dead

Kenny Loggins – I’m Alright – Caddyshack (just a brief clip from the movie)

Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody – Wayne’s World

Kenny Loggins – Danger Zone – Top Gun (Yup, double shot of Kenny. The song may be “eh”, but, everyone remembers it)

Bob Seger – Old Time Rock And Roll -Frisky Business

The Champs – Tequila- Pee Wee’s Big Adventure

Peter Gabriel – In Your Eyes Say Anything (no video from movie available)

Black Sabbath – The Mob Rules – Heavy Metal (You could almost pick any song from the movie, but, this is one of the few where they play almost the entire song) (full video not available)

The Beatles – Twist and Shout – Ferris Beuller’s Day Off

Otis Day And The Knights – Shout – Animal House

Eric Clapton – Layla – Goodfellas

Led Zeppelin – Kashmir – Fast Times At Ridgemont High (shame it wasn’t on the soundtrack. No video from the movie, either)

Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb – The Wall

The Doors – The End – Apocalypse Now

Bon Jovi – Blaze Of Glory – Young Guns II

    In addition, I have two:
The Seeker – The Who – The Limey – It is an awesome song and it is used awesomely in the movie with teh awesomeness of Terrance Stamp. The movie itself was pretty good.

On The Dark Side – John Cafferty the Beaver Brown Band – Eddie & the Cruisers. Actually the whole soundtrack was great.

Didn’t Jefferson Starship do “Nothin’s gonna stop us now” for Mannequin?

  3. Those are some good ones, Cee Arr. The Dark Side, definitely.

    Yup, sure did, proof.

I’d like to suggest Big Bottoms from the greatest mockumentary of all time, This is Spinal Tap.

I’ll have to go look thru my soundtracks for more.

  5. manbearpig says:

How about “Let’s Go Crazy” from Purple Rain and U2’s “Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me”. I would put those on the top 15.

  6. Good ones, though I am not familiar with the movie the U2 song is in.

  7. Cee Arr says:

East Hampton – Godspeed! You Black Emperor – 28 Days Later ( when Jim is standing in the square right after he leaves the hospital. It really helped build tension.)

I think the U2 song was in Batman Forever, whichever one had Val Kilmer.

Purple Rain & Spinal Tap were awesome soundtracks.

Dang, that’s some good movie rock there. Its hard to argue with Van Halen as the #1 song. Shout can almost do it, but I’m not sure that’s rock. I’d have to go with Danger Zone as #2, but mostly because of the way it was used in the movie, rather than just for the song.

  9. manbearpig says:

That’s right, it was in Batman Forever. Actually, if I remember right, they played it over the closing credits, so it wasn’t actually “in” the movie per se, but it’s still a rockin’ tune!

  10. Kenny Loggins-Highway to the Danger Zone!
The best part of which is the limited shots of the “Deck”
Did that for a fair chunk of twenty years on ships that are no longer in service and awaiting their fate in Bremerton, WA.
    Been there.
    Done that.
And even now, at times, I miss it!
