Apples and oranges, Weidner. Yes, horrible things have been done in the name of Christianity. The important difference is that these things were NOT done according to Christ’s teachings; many of the atrocities committed in his name were in direct violation of those teachings.

In Islam, however, such atrocities are not only condoned, but often REQUIRED by Muhammed’s teachings.

Advising against condoms in Africa, you know what works better than condoms? ABSTINENCE. As for stem cell research, embryonic stem cell experiments have yielded failure after failure. Non-embryonic stem cell research is the only place where you will find any actual advances. So why on earth, whether your reasons are based in religion or not, would anyone continue to blow billions in researching a failed theory that requires the destruction of unborn children?

But then, this is what passes for logic on the left.

Certainly religion was a factor here. Anyone saying otherwise is ignoring the obvious. And for christians to bash muslims seems kind of funny considering all of the horrible things that are done in the name of their religion. Like advising people not to wear condoms in Africa where the HIV rates are through the roof, or hampering the progress of stem cell research. Let’s ask the people in Iran or Afghanistan if they think christianity is a religion of peace. Let’s not forget the crusades, the inquisition, abortion clinic bombings, or the Salem witch trials.

Religion: “With or without it, you’d have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, it takes religion”.

This guy was a wack job for a loooong time but no one did anything about it. And I think that it was crazy to have any Arab psychiatrist giving therapy to soldiers who had developed PTSD in Iraq. Doesn’t anyone see that there were a lot of alarming signals being given off here ? The Army should have either taken the loss and discharged him, or kept him under close observation. He was a wack job. Some people say that this could not have been prevented, I say it could have.
