Is there anything that adult stem cells (ASCs) can’t do?
Vitro Diagnostics, Inc. (OTCBB: VODG), dba Vitro Biopharma, announced advances in its adult stem cell products and technology with application to cell-based therapy of cancer. With the passing of Senator Edward Kennedy from brain cancer, we are reminded of such aggressive cancers without effective treatment.
Cancer stem cells are thought to generate cancerous tumors, and while some of these tumor cells are destroyed by chemotherapy and radiation, cancer stem cells resist these treatments causing recurrences and metastasis of cancer following standard therapy. For example, glioblastoma tumors underlying Senator Kennedy`s brain cancer may arise from cancer stem cells that resist conventional treatments. Additional research shows that certain adult stem cells migrate to cancer stem cells and may be used to carry toxic agents to selectively eradicate cancer stem cells thereby providing novel cellular therapy specifically targeted to cancer-causing cells. Further development of stem cell therapy may allow treatment of presently untreatable cancer and also have more widespread applications to prevention and treatment of cancer.
It’s rather sleazy to use Ted Kennedy’s name in this, but, hey, if it is good enough for the Democrats….. well, anyhow, this is definitely good news, if it pans out.

Shocker! That seems to be the result of the vast majority of ESC tests. Cancerous tumors.

Did I hear Michael J Fox is going to heartily back this new science, calling for a total reversal of his ridiculous pleas to keep Embryonic stem cell research alive (pun unintended)??
Not that it had ever really died, just that GW Bush said no new ESC’s, but private industry were able to do as much research as they wanted with ESC’s. Which aparently resulted in this study proving that Adult cells work and embryonic don’t. As a matter of fact, when ESC’s are used they cause worse harm.

I’d love to see someone like MJF say “you know, that medicine I currently take is the result of those fabulous adult stem cells, so, let’s put our money in that direction,” but, all these Hollyweird Libs thing ESCs are great. They’ve done nothing, but, they’re great! They live in some strange delusional state.
