Those of us on the Right do not love our country less because the other party is in charge … Conservatives just believe in love of the best country ever.

I’d take it one step further, noting that “love of country” is independent of any said government. In other words, government does not equal country. In fact, our American heritage is that of anti-state – the disdain of government!

This is why our Founders gave us a republic and not a democracy. Our first president, George Washington warned:

Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.

I could go on all day as you know … Progressives laying claim to America’s founding is even more absurd than when they stole the word liberal. As you said, the original “progressives” were in fact, advocates of fascism!
