Obligatory Sarah Palin Resigns Post

Just got back from the pool, have watched what was going on on Twitter and the ‘Net on ye olde iPhone, but, breaking it down

In a stunning announcement, Gov. Sarah Palin said Friday morning she will resign her office in a few weeks.

Speculation has swirled for weeks, perhaps months that Palin would not seek re-election in 2010 as she pursues a political career on the national stage. The former vice presidential candidate has long been rumored to be considering a run at the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.

Palin did not address those rumors at the press conference at her Wasilla home, during which she did not take questions from reporters.

She implied that her real decision was not to seek re-election, and that the resignation was a natural step after that in order to avoid a lame-duck final 18 months of her term.

“With this announcement that I’m not seeking re-election, I’ve determined it’s best to transfer the authority of governor to Lieutenant Governor (Sean) Parnell,” Palin said. “I’m determined to take the right path for Alaska, even though it is unconventional and is not so comfortable.

“And I am willing to do this so this administration, with its positive agenda and its accomplishments and its successful road to an incredible future for Alaska, so that it can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success.”

Listening to the replays on the news channels, what I heard was a women who was tired of people coming after her personally with BS suits and investigations which kept her from her family and from doing her job as Governor of Alaska. She did, IMO, the best thing for the State, since the jackals were still coming after her even after all these months past the election.

Monitoring Twitter and some sites on the Right, I see that some of the same old Palin haters are still doing the hater thing, and finding all sorts of strange conspiracies, as well as declaring her political career dead. Hmm. I remember they said the same thing about Reagan.

For those who are conjuring away, checking the crystal balls, laying down Tarot cards, dragging out the Ouija boards, making all sorts of pronouncements, just remember, with Palin, WYSIWYG. There is not trickery in her, she is NOT your standard model politician. And for those who say “But, but, she doesn’t know enough!!!” True. But, do you? Remember, Obama was elected on little more than “hope, change, yes we can!”

No matter what lies in her future – Michelle Malkin catches an interesting Tweet from SarahCuda – I personally wish her and her family the best, and thank her for bucking up the Conservative base. Also, that she spends the next few years building up the cred to kick the snot out of Obama in 2012.

There are a ton of links over at Memeorandum, wish I had time to scroll through, alas, going to a party at 6pm. Jay at Stop the ACLU has video and tons of reactions.

Soe ends the Baracuda Patrol You threw her out when you took down the jumping cuda. Three of the top conservatives for the nomination Ensign, Sanford and Palin have all become unelectable in teh last month.

She cost McCain the election, her folkyness, accent and winking do not ring true, her intellect is below par (our vivid memory of the last one who delegates and follows because of their lack of intellect), but lets face it with the right type of marketing (vote folky, vote god) it can be sold to US, history tends to repeat itself. God help us!

  4. Bankruptcy says:

Governor Palin did not “reject ” half or one-third of the stimulus money. She set the scene for a public discussion, indicating that she would accept certain portions on condition that they were for short-term or once-off expenditures, and did not lead to ongoing unfunded mandates after the stimulus money runs out. In this effort, she largely got her way and these conditions were built into the relevant legislation.
As anyone who has followed the foreclosure crisis closely knows, there is currently a loophole in federal bankruptcy law that allows John McCain to protect his second through seventh homes and yachts and planes if he were to declare bankruptcy, but doesn’t allow you and me to save our primary residence that we live in.

  5. Oh, please, John. The election was over. I took that graphic down several months after. I never got the Ensign or Sanford for president thing.

Heck, if it wasn’t for Palin, McCain would have been lucky to get 46 million votes, Benito. He hosed himself with his “I’m suspending my campaign” idiocy, then voting for TARP.

  6. Palin’s move puts yet more pressure on Obama to finally get some results, as the soaring rhetoric isn’t hypnotizing the plebes like it used to. This week Helen Thomas, Colin Powell, and Warren Buffet all turned on him. Polls are looking droopy for The One lately.

Obama’s porkulus program is a train wreck, all it’s done is bump interest rates and tank the dollar. We are being laughed at by bad guys like Tehran, Pyongyang, and Al Qaida who amazingly turned-down Barack’s friend-requests.

Palin could trounce him in 2012, when Americans would vote for the Gipper-in-Heels in droves- while begging for lower taxes, free enterpise, a defense posture with some backbone… an end to the radical, anti-American nightmare we’ve got now.

    Go get ‘em Sarah-

winners never quit, quitters never win. Who is going to vote for her after she walked out on a job half done ? As far as Sanford and Ensign they were both young rising conservative stars.

  9. She really scares the bejesus out of you, eh, John?

The reasons of Palin resignation are controversial. What could be the real cause of her decision? Vote on the most possible one – http://www.votetheday.com/america/palin-resignation-424/

When she accepted the VP nomination, she knew she needed to bring her professional game up to another level, she never did. She knew that her family would get attacked as did Hilary and Chelsea before her (by even her twin maverick brother McCain in 1998), let face it she knew her family affairs would come out. But now she plays the victim card again, a card she played after those comical first extended interviews that we all enjoyed and SNL immortalized. But for the icing on the cake, she quits, because she does not want to be a lame duck governor, because the lawsuits keep coming, because it was the media’s fault, because seeing Russia from her house finally got to her, because its not fair that Alaskan’s paid her salary while she was running for the VP position, take your pick. So what does she tells us? Dear Mr. President, when things get tough, quit. Dear military men and women, if you are not having fun, quit. Dear son or daughter, if things are not going your way, quit. Sure, I agree when she first was introduced and gave a descent speech, sure the polls went up, but after the extended interviews, they went where they ended, down. She showed her true character, I real hope the book deal, Radio/ TV shows and the lecture circuits make up for what her party has lost by her actions. She may go down in history as the quitter that twittered.

  12. Paul says:

Can anyone real tell me that you were impressed by her exit speech? You can’t real believe that she is the only person that can win in 2012. You know, if she can’t take a joke, don’t get in the game, its politics, they all get kicked around. Let me paint you a picture, in my opinion, for the last eight years where the mantra was no regulation and no oversight and spread to all federal agencies and the justice department was filled by unqualified religious types and the dullard (ex-drunk) religious president started two wars of choice with extreme tax dollar spending, is anyone surprised with our current economic situation because of those choices. Sure “W” sucker the religious right to vote for him and that’s why he placed unqualified people in positions of responsibility and they failed (almost a “plan to fail”), do you forget Katrina, where the Director of FEMA Michael D. Brown, was relieved of his duties because of incompetence? Or can you forget disgraced White House correspondent James Guckert, AKA Jeff Gannon, the male escort, why was a male escort getting into the Whitehouse, hmmm? I know it was Barney Frank’s fault, he controls the county and republicans had their hands tied (even though 7 of the last 8 years they had the majority and the presidency to do something (fact or fiction?), but not the will to act). Oh, by the way I read that God blog, very funny, it reminds me of those TV evangelists who claim the talk to God and want so and so foreign country leader to be killed or such and such a us state to be punished by God for a court ruling that intelligent design is just another word for religion. We had enough of religious dullards in our government. If you believe that the USA has strayed from God then go out to your communities and preach to your neighbors, the sick, the shut ins, the poor and invite them to take part in your church, build a community. But I know that’s hard work we want a government official to do that for us, well they tried that and look where it left us, in the gutter, but our country does not quit and we will rise again. Do you remember how Ronald Reagan got us out of a recession? By spending and we will do the same. But she is just another “W” in heels and she is stringing the religious right along, she will sell you her books, her radio/TV shows and speaking engagements. Lastly, I do not want you to believe what I believe, so please keep writing, feel free, I am starting to enjoy this.
