Obama On the Lipstick Remark (Now With Video)

The Messiah is discussing his lipstick remark. Rather then say “woops, I messed up. The way it is being portrayed was not what I meant. I’m sorry.”, Barry is blaming the McCain camp and the people who were offended, and talking about distractions, “we aren’t discussing the issues that are important to you,” yammer yammer yammer.

“These are serious times that call for serious debate..” Like lipstick on a pig, Barry?

Eh, tuning him out, same old stupidity. Will wait for the transcript from the Credentialed Media later. Probably video.

Actually, no. He said “so, spare me the phony outrage.” In other words, you people who are offended can just go f*ck yourselves

“That’s the type (upstanding) of debate we deserve.” The type that includes lipstick on a pig comments, Barry?

More: a full quote

“Spare me the phony outrage. Spare me the phony knee talk about change,” Obama said at the beginning of an education event in Virginia. “We have real problems in this country right now. The American people are looking to us for answers, not distractions, not diversions, not manipulations. They want real answers to the real problems we are facing.”

Distraction. Diversion. OK, here is a real question, Barry: You are a massive supporter of corn based ethanol. Since, in reality, it is heavily inefficient, uses tons of water and land to produce, drives food costs up, cannot compare to gasoline for energy output, harms the ability of the poor, and middle class, to feed themselves, and some reports even state that it will add more greenhouse gases to the atmosphere then using gas in auto’s, why do you support corn based ethanol, Barack H. Obama? You talked about hardships for the middle class during your missive this morning, Barry. Corn based ethanol causes hardships.

Here’s the video

My main concern is Barack Obamas Immaturity in this context. Although the campaigns showcase party platforms and issues their main purpose is to give us a close look at the candidates. Do they have the qualities necessary to be president. The president of The United States is the most important job in the world. He or She represents this Country and every word spoken by the holder of this office is taken as policy by the rest of the planet. Whenever Barack Obama speaks the most common following statement is “Thats not what I meant”. The President does not have that luxury. Obamas sophmoric comments about the lipstick and the fish show that he is too Immature for the position he so fiercely covets. Im sorry Barack but you have failed your audition. I recommend that you try out for governor in your home state. come back and see us in 16 years. Thank you.

Teach said: Rather then say “woops, I messed up. The way it is being portrayed was not what I meant. I’m sorry.”

What does Obama have to apologize for? His lipstick comment was not in reference to Sarah Palin. Here’s exactly what he said:

John McCain says he’s about change, too — except for economic policy, health care policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy and Karl Rove-style politics. That’s just calling the same thing something different.

With a laugh, he added: “You can put lipstick on a pig; it’s still a pig. You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change; it’s still going to stink after eight years.”

The fact that the McCain campaign suggests it was, is disingenuous.

  3. You’re exactly right, Larry. Excellent points.

Silke, why is McCain’s response disingenuous?

  4. Silke says:

Because they are suggesting his lipstick comment was in reference to Sarah Palin.

  5. And it couldn’t possibly have a double meaning, in reference to Palin’s hockey mom/lipstick joke, right?

  6. Silke says:

The “lipstick on a pig” reference is common – especially among politicians on the trail. McCain has used it several times as well. This isn’t just a case of taking something out of context it’s making stuff up. The fact that the McCain campaign is now using this to manufacture outrage is so disappointing. I really thought he was better than this.

  7. Stacy says:

I have given him the benefit of the doubt on this Silke, but his audience took a different meaning than it’s original intention, and he ran with it.

I’d be a little bit more concerned about what was said before that. He almost quoted verbatim, a political cartoon that was in a paper a few days before that speech. Dude’s gotta get his script from comic strips now? Pleez.

  8. Silke says:

How did Obama run with it? What do you mean, Stacy?

  9. If the reference is so common, Silke, why haven’t we heard Obama use it before? Interesting how you are upset with McCain for responding to the ugly comment of Obama, rather then being upset with what barry said. Are we no longer allowed to criticize Barry?

I would give Barry the benefit of the doubt if he had done the honorable thing and just said “woops, I goofed, sorry.” He says he wants to run a clean campaign, yet, he does stuff like this, and the more I watch the original video, the more it looks like he was trying to make a joke, but, he has no timing, and got serious about it. This will haunt him for at least a week.

Watch the vid, Silke. He takes a nice little pause for what he knew would be either applause or laughter, or both.

  10. Silke says:

Of course you can criticize Obama, but it should be for something he’s actually done – not a perceived slight.

I watched the video and I read the text of what he said. Reasonable people will give Obama the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately the McCain campaign isn’t being reasonable. They already have an ad up about this. How disappointing.

  11. Stacy says:

The laughter it invoked is obvious. Surely you’re not that naive Silke. I’m all about processing this without any bias. When you speak as much as he does, things slip. But the pig followed by the fish does make me curious as to what he meant. BO has proven himself to be a race-baiting sexist incapable of stringing more than three words together without an “uh”, “you know” or “now hold on a minute”.

I was very fair to BO early on, but his multiple gaffes, questionable friendships and flip-flops has made me believe he’s a danger to this nation.

  12. Stacy says:

I’ve watched and watched, and read and read, and analyzed and analyzed; I honestly do not believe he meant it as an insult to Palin. But the man should have followed up with something to ensure that he wasn’t. It is a simple thing to do, something that should enter your mind. I’ve decided I’m no longer going to comment on it anywhere, he has bigger issues that concern me.

On a another note; I really enjoyed his interview with O’Reilly. I was able to view him in a different way, which I really appreciate because I want to be fair. I still won’t vote for him. There actually might have been a slim chance if he wasn’t an arrogant, empty suit followed around by the incessant pep squad of the loony left and the MSM.
