WTW: The Pope Now A Climate Change Denier

Morning, y’all, Jebediah Murphy here on another fantastic White Trash Wednesday. And, I gotta say, all them liberal climahysterics (also known as climahypocrites) are really going to hate the Pope and religion even more. Why, you ask?

Pope Benedict XVI has launched a surprise attack on climate change prophets of doom, warning them that any solutions to global warming must be based on firm evidence and not on dubious ideology.

The leader of more than a billion Roman Catholics suggested that fears over man-made emissions melting the ice caps and causing a wave of unprecedented disasters were nothing more than scare-mongering.

The German-born Pontiff said that while some concerns may be valid it was vital that the international community based its policies on science rather than the dogma of the environmentalist movement.

His remarks will be made in his annual message for World Peace Day on January 1, but they were released as delegates from all over the world convened on the Indonesian holiday island of Bali for UN climate change talks.

Well, I reckon the Pope is correct. It does need to based on science, rather then hysteria, hypocrisy, junk science, and a need create a world wide socialist paradise. Oh, and let’s not forget getting lots and lots of moola out of gullible climahysterics. Why else promote carbon offsets rather then just, ya know, advocating stopping the problem? I reckon we can’t say that all liberals are idiots, since a few, such as Michael Moore and The Goracle, know how to siphon money out of moonbat pockets.

How ’bout a bit more?

In the spring, the Vatican hosted a conference on climate change that was welcomed by environmentalists.

But senior cardinals close to the Vatican have since expressed doubts about a movement which has been likened by critics to be just as dogmatic in its assumptions as any religion.

In October, the Australian Cardinal George Pell, the Archbishop of Sydney, caused an outcry when he noted that the atmospheric temperature of Mars had risen by 0.5 degrees celsius.

“The industrial-military complex up on Mars can’t be blamed for that,” he said in a criticism of Australian scientists who had claimed that carbon emissions would force temperatures on earth to rise by almost five degrees by 2070 unless drastic solutions were enforced.

Well, I reckon they are getting that anthropogenic climate change is based more on hysteria, and hypocrisy, then science.

But now is your time to prove me wrong, climahysterics! All you need to do is change your lifestyle to match your rhetoric and beliefs. Will ye do it? I hear deflections in 3….2…..1…..

Teach adds: What does Ban Ki-moon think?

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said setting specific targets for cutting greenhouse-gas emissions blamed for global warming may be “too ambitious” for delegates meeting this week in Indonesia.

Too ambitious? Huh?

As delegates at the UN climate conference in Bali haggle over the wording of a new document, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon warns the human race faces oblivion if it fails to confront global warming.

The United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon has called for urgent international action to stop global warming.

Speaking at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Bali, Ban called climate change “the moral challenge of our generation”.

“Succeeding generations depend on us. We cannot rob our children of their future,” he said.

We work for success, we don’t work for failure. We must succeed at this Bali meeting. We must be able to launch negotiations for an international agreement by 2009 with a clear agenda,” the U.N. chief told an afternoon press briefing following the opening of the High-Level segment of the Climate Change Conference.

Dude is all over the map. What it comes down to is sucking money from gullible climahysterics, as well as sucking more and more people in to climahystericy, and promoting global socialism.

ummm…relying on a man who believes man can be born thru imaculate conception, can rise from the dead, can part the seas, that a woman was created from the rib of a man, and that pedophilia is a-ok fine. you deniers are desperate. with a little critical thought you might come to the conclusion that the majority of climate scientists in the world are working from firm evidence, and deniers like yourself are working from a dubious idealology. however the evidence at hand suggests you are incapable of that. which is fine…you are entitled to your beliefs. just remember…it was the catholics who put galileo under house arrest for daring to suggest that the earth revolves around the sun. you extremists crack me up.

  2. norm says:

on the up-side…he does wear that nice pointy hat.

  3. John Ryan says:

Of course it is utterly preposterous to believe that the climate could ever change. Poppycock !!

  4. madmatt says:

This is a nazi, who is pro child molestor, and believes in an invisible man in the sky….yes I think I will ask him about some medical issues next…he HAS no qualifications on climate science, he barely qualifies as a human being and certainly not as a decent one.

  5. Hank says:

I know when I want the most up to date information on science, I turn to the Catholic Church. They were spot on with the controversy regarding Galileo!

  6. Yes, Norm, the Pope is a man who has deeply held convictions, which is more then can be said about liberals.

John, it is not about the climate changing. Only an idiot would claim it never happens. What we are discussing is anthropogenic climate change, which is dishonest, at best. To use your own words, it is utterly preposterous to believe that the climate could change nowadays only because of Man.

Ah, madhat with the liberal religion hating talking points. Last time I looked, Al Gore had no qualifications to discuss climate change, either. Last time I checked, his degree was a BA in government.

Hank, I reckon you are missing the point. The Pope is saying that we should, in effect, base conclusions regarding climate change on science, not hysteria.

  7. norm says:

the church didn’t like copernicus much either for that matter. the church and science…brilliant. it amazes me that the deniers are generally the same people who are willing to lose 4000 troops and borrow over two trillion dollars in order to depose a guy that posed absolutely no threat. but faced with the vast majority of the experts on the subject saying man’s contribution to climate change poses a signifigant threat…they will grasp at any straw to deny it. like i said…amazing.

  8. R.Mutt says:

    William Teach,
What’s utterly preposterous is that you would disavow hundreds of climate scientists who seem to think the evidence overwhelmingly points to that very conclusion based on a pitiful handful of public deniers.

  9. norm says:

    bill teach…
the pope has deeply held convictions ok — about superstitions…i’m not sure how that qualifies him to pass judgement on scientific matters. the historic record of the church in scientific matters is suspect to say the least. you can refuse to argue the merits, but be careful about gross generalizations…not all who care about the environment are liberals…you deniers are an extreme fringe. but like i said, i do like the pointy hats.

Miss our C-5 Galaxy IMPERIALIST crew rest days in Italy…..Where porno stands were across the street from it’s prestine Catholic Churches! Italy is shaped like a boot because God couldn’t fit all of that spaghetti in a shoe…. Bon Natale!

  11. Rick says:

If anyone is an expert on “dubious ideology” he’s your guy.

  12. darthcrUSAderworldtour2007 says:

GOD loved Martin Luther for telling the crony Vatican to pound sand! Oh how the Nazis loved Pope Pius XII in 1940, eh? And I still am a CCRC: Conservative Christian
Roman Catholic who digs RC Cola! NO Holy Communion for Biden, Pelosi or John Ryan types!

  13. John Ryan says:

So you think that it is POSSIBLE that man is having an effect on the climate ?

  14. John Ryan says:

Read any good polls lately darth ?

  15. Demothenes says:

People should stop being hard on the Pope. Sure he has some bizarre beliefs (he’s a global warming sceptic despite the near unanimous consensus of scientists and peddler of 2,000 year old creation myths). How many 80 year olds do you know still even hold down a job?

  16. John Ryan, yes, I do believe Man is having some influence, particularly in the realm of agriculture and ocean pollution (that would be a very long explanation.) But, climate change is mostly natural.

Demonethes, consensus does not make something real. Remember, at one point the consensus was that the Earth was flat. Interestingly, there really is not a consensus, no matter how many times you climahysterics repeat it. How do you feel about 19,000+ scientists saying anthropogenic climate change is BS? http://www.oism.org/pproject/

So, for all you folks who believe that Man is mostly or all at fault, have you changed your lifestyle to match your rhetoric?

  17. Bill T says:

the pope not only believes in an invisible man in the sky, he believes he talks to this invisible man. why anyone but other deluded montheists care what this ex-nazi has to say about anyone, I don’t understand.

  18. darthcrUSAderworldtour2007 says:

Hey Ryan, at least I don’t sit on the polls! You’d give my angel on our Christmas tree a ‘run’ for the money. Congrats on your CNN ? Vatican City spokesperson job….

Back to the Bear Nation now Comrade Ryan (www.immental.commie/moveover.orgy)….

  19. Pericles says:

You might take a look at what the Pope actually said rather than what the Daily Mail says he said. It’s here:
    http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/messages/peace/documents/hf_ben-xvi_mes_20071208_xli-world-day-peace_en.html

You have to do a lot of interpretation to read an anti-climate-change message into the text. I think the Pope might be surprised by this whole discussion.

  20. Silke says:

Remember, at one point the consensus was that the Earth was flat.

Scientifically this was disproved over 2,000 years ago by Eratosthenes. To compare a lack of knowledge among the general populace to modern science is absurd. You are only revealing your own ignorance on what science really is when you keep making this statement.

By the way, your post and the article it is base on are highly misleading. No one on either side of the debate would disagree that reason and science should guide decisions, but that does not mean the Pope denies anthropogenic warming. In fact Vatican City became the first fully carbon-neutral state in the world this year.

  21. Read what I wrote again, Silke. You are making inferences that are not supported.

And, yes, the earth was scientifically proven to be round. Which is more then can be said for man made global warming, which relies on those deep scientific words like “likely.”
