I'd leave a comment at HuffPo, but I know they wouldn't allow it to post. So I'll leave it here. In our nation roughly 50 individuals are killed each and every day by a drunk driver. Additionally, there are 500,000, yes, HALF A MILLION, injured each and every year by a drunk driver; some permanently. When someone wants to make the argument regarding the danger of firearms, why don't they make an argument for something that causes far more damage than a random shooting? Why is there no legislation to remove alcohol from store shelves and restaurant menus? It takes three things to make a gun fire. You need a gun, ammo and a person. If any of those three things are missing from the equation; nothing happens. It takes three things for a drunk person to kill; alcohol, a car and a person. Alcohol and firearms in the wrong hands, causes great destruction. Next time someone wants to introduce more gun laws, ask them why they do nothing about the countless families whose lives have been ruined by drunks. Alcoholism does not only to damage behind the wheel; but it is responsible for much of the domestic violence and disfunctional family environments.
