Since I am working on something on my themes, I will add something, rather then edit.

I started looking impeachment up, and there is some confusion as to whether a congress critter can be impeached. Only one ever has, and that was overturned for lack of jurisdiction. The question is one of whether a congressman is a “civil officer of the USA.”

However, they can be expelled, and considerably easier, and for less then the “treason, bribery, and high crimes and misdemeanors” required for exec and judicial branch members.

Article I, Section 5, of the United States Constitution provides that “Each House [of Congress] may determine the Rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two-thirds, expel a member.” Since 1789, the Senate has expelled only fifteen of its entire membership.

So, essentially, it would be easy to expell Murtha, where the GOP still in charge, and if any of them had the balls to bring it up.

John, the point is that a sitting US Senator, who has been there a long, long, long time, and is a leader in the Democrat Senate, should not be making accusations comdenation speeches before the proof and/or facts are in. He basically said they did it, and that could have prejudiced the case

Let’s say you were accused of a crime, John. Would you like it if, say, Arlen Spector said to the press that you were a scumbag and did the crime before you were even charged? Especially if you didn’t do the crime?

I reckon our Marines deserve to be treated with respect by a sitting US Senator.

Seriously, the only thing that can get him on is treason, and Democrats would never follow through, since they think tearing down the US and building up the enemy is “patriotic.” They are sick in the head.

Edit: we could actually get him on “high crimes and misdemeanors” if the lawsuit holds up, though.

I seriously think we should start an ‘Impeach Murtha’ campaign. The left want to impeach everybody from the President to the local Republican dog catcher.

But aside from what the left wants to do. He really does need to be gotten out of office. He’s a danger to himself and others. Mostly others.

I have more faith in our justice system, even the military justice system, than to think that what one senator says would make a lot of difference. And apparently from the lack of prosecution it had no effect.

As far as the changing situation on the ground we have been told from the beginning that “things are getting better” why should we place any credence on this ? Simply because fewer Americans are being killed in Anbar does not mean that any of the political issues have been settled. I don’t believe that the Sunnis are friends that can be trusted, do you ?
