How many green house gases is Al Gore's face responsible for producing. Have you seen the red faced pic of his senate hearing testimony from 3/21/07. WOW, I think we may have found the problem and source of our global warming problem.

Teach said: Come on. The report said the temps had gone up less then 1 degree celcius.

But the critical issue with what is going on today is not where the temperature is, but how fast it is moving. The rate of warming is on the order of 10 times faster today than seen before:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:2000_Year_Temperature_Comparison.png

Rapid change is the real danger. What we know about ecosystems and what geologic history demonstrates is that such dramatic changes - up or down - are a tremendous shock to the biosphere.

Teach said: Did you know that plants put out methane?

Yes, as I stated earlier I looked through your archives and I read the article on methane (I’m still looking for those other scientific reports you keep referring to by the way). But according to the IPCC’s Fourth Assessment Report the amount of methane in the atmosphere in 2005 (1774 ppb) exceeds by far the natural range of the last 650,000 years (320 to 790 ppb). The primary source of the increase in methane is very likely to be a combination of human agricultural activities and fossil fuel use.

Come on. The report said the temps had gone up less then 1 degree celcius. We came out of the Little Ice Age around 1850. Of course it was getting warmer. We had the Global Climate Optimum before then. That happens. Things change.

Did you know that plants put out methane? Methane much worse of a greenhouse gas then CO2. Should we kill all the plants, or manage them wisely? Nature happens.

What is lost with the whole man is the only cause of global warming hysteria is measures that can help the environment. Stop worrying about CO2 output from cars, and make them cleaner burning. Funny how so many of the global warming disciples show up in limo's and fly all around the world in private jets preaching that everyone else should be more responsible, eh?

I respectfully disagree. To say climate is cyclical is to disregard the unprecedented rate of change we are seeing. It’s not just that average temperatures are rising, they are rising faster than we have ever seen and they seem to correspond with a rise in the burning of fossil fuels. This is not just about having an opinion. It’s about understanding the science behind climate change and the consensus of the scientific community - which can be found here: http://www.ipcc.ch/

Looking through your archives I found one article (not the scientific report itself) on methane and although it identified methane as one of the sources which traps heat in Earth’s atmosphere it said nothing about Global Warming. Again, where are these scientific reports you keep referring to?

Considering how I feel about Bush regarding his illegal immigration and border agent stances, he is a nutjob.

Look, I am not saying that global warming doesn't exist. Climate is cyclical. Sometimes it will be mostly cooler, sometimes mostly warmer. It happens. What I do not believe, and haven't seen the evidence for, is that Mankind is primarily responsible. Sure, we bear a small part, mostly in the micro climatic arena. But, there are so many natural forces that effect climate, to feel that man is the primary cause is the height of hubris.

Teach,

Here’s another nutjob pushing the “Global Warming Hysterics”:

“Beginning in June 2001, President Bush has consistently acknowledged climate change is occurring and humans are contributing to the problem.”
