I sent the following email to Pelosi about this abomination; needless to say, I only received a canned “thank you for contacting us” reply.

My email:

According to this article at Human Events Online ["Pelosi Targets
Grassroots Freedom of Speech" [http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=18510], it appears you
would like for me to register so that I will be allowed to encourage
fellow private citizens to take various position on issues and advocate for positions myself.

So, here goes:

ORGANIZATION: I am not an organization, I am a private citizen of the
United States of America, with the Constitutionally guaranteed right of freedom of speech, which includes both advocating for positions and
encouraging others to do the same and act in concert in so doing.

EXPENDITURES: The amount of money I spend–on ANYTHING, including
political activities not otherwise already covered by burdensome–and
most likely, unconstitional tax regulations–is my busines, and none of yours.

CONGRESS PERSONS/TARGETS OF ADVOCACY EFFORTS: Whomever I damn well
please to “target” with my advocacy efforts, up to and including the
Speaker of the House of Representatives. And for the record, remember: “target” can, and in this case does, mean “contact for purposes of communication” only.

POLICY ISSUES ADVOCATED: Whatever I damn well please.

Let me wrap up by saying, as cordially as I can, you are a sanctimonious bitch and I will advocate tirelessly on behalf of efforts to kill this ill-thought out effort to destroy the First Amendment protections of freedom of speech.

This proposal would run right into the first amendment. The President could veto. The Supreme Court could block on the grounds that it is unconstitutional. This reminds me of the democrats attempts at limiting our 2nd amendment rights.
