Pelosi: Save Darfur On United Nations Day

Liberal insanity at its finest

WASHINGTON, Oct. 24 /U.S. Newswire/ — House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on United Nations Day:

"There is no better way to commemorate United Nations Day than to urge the member states to act in accordance with the UN charter, to 'reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person.' Nowhere is that pledge more severely tested today than in Darfur.

"The United States must use its leadership position within the UN Security Council and elsewhere to ensure that effective action is taken. The members of the United Nations, the Arab League, and the African Union all have a moral obligation to end the genocide in Darfur. The world has been placed on notice; the promise of 'never again' made after previous acts of genocide must be redeemed in Darfur."

Let's see. Pelosi is all hot and bothered over Darfur and the human rights violations, such as genocide. A nation that means very little to the security of the United States. I hate to use the phrase "eerily reminicent" for a second time today, but it is, in regards to Haiti and the Balkans operations under Clinton (Somalia doesn't count, as it was Bush 41 who originally deployed the military.) Neither had any real need regarding the security of the United States.

Yet Pelosi completely ignores the human rights violations, including genocide, in Iraq under Hussein, despite saying. And the only way to actually do anything in Darfur would be with military intervention. If President Bush goes that route, will she still support the "moral obligation to end the genocide in Darfur?" I doubt it. She, and the other libs around the world, will all of a sudden find some excuse to oppose saving the people of Darfur, simply because W is for it.

Libs like Pelosi and the UN have shown a penchant for ignoring atrocities, such as Iraq, despite saying "the promise of 'never again'". Just ask CNN. And let's not forget the 800K+ Rwandans slaughtered in 100 days while Clinton and the UN turned their backs.

I won't even get into the pedophile sex and drugs parties that the UN "humanitarians" have engaged in, or the brutal dictators represented in the UN.

Still going to vote Democrat? Nancy wants something done, and rather then offering a plan or idea, she says "Please, Pres Bush, do something" because the Dems are incapable and irresponsible. Probably incontinent, too.

Just for reference, I believe that something should be done in Darfur. Should have been done a long time ago. If no one else will do it, then we should be the worlds policeman. Especially since Islamic murderers are the ones involved. But, will the world actually get involved, or just yap yap?

Pelosi is one of those complaining that the US has no leadership role anymore in the UN. Now she wants the Bush Administration to use a leadership role that doesn’t exist. Sheese! Liberals!

It’s all about the spin.
